There were a couple of team player out on Saturday that i know of: handing over jugs were Lindsay Jones 4 putting the 1st after landing on for two ( ooch ) and Conrad Peters had a very ordinary start coughing up two jugs, not making the Ladies tee on the 3rd and 4th holes, but he did come good and had a good round after the shock factor kicked in.

there is a committee meeting at 7.15am at the club on Saturday

Hi everyone i hope you all had a fabulous Easter break and are well rested for the working week ahead, hahaha. Who would have thought it was the easter long weekend with over 30 players showing up for the Phil Edwards sponsored stableford day. I guess that is the normal turn out for our club at the present. At the end of the day there is always a winner and having a blistering April is Penny Pearce winning the day with 44 point, well done and well played, in second position with 43 points was Jason White and in 3rd place Phil Edwards with 41 points almost winning his own day.
ps. Klaus what happened, your name was not in the top two !!!!! just a temporary (green) set back for you.
On Saturday many firsts for the golf course and the club were about to be reviled:
1. There was a temporary green in play on all 18 holes
2. if you landed on the green ( that little white circle with a flag in the middle) it was an instant give me ( no putting required )
3. i saw a greens keeper working on the course. ( almost required a defibrillator )
4. Over 30 players on a Saturday long weekend.
5. i could see the base of almost every tree on the course
6. Maybe not a first for some, but all the greens were cored and sanded. ( were's that defibrillator )
7. Everyone finished the round and no-one will be handicapped.
Once again a big thank you to Chris for working so hard to ensuring the Belair Golf course slowly but surely returns to its playing best.
For most of us getting that little white ball to land in the that little white circle was very difficult to say the least, i am sure the 12th and 13th holes will give some player nightmares for a while to come. But for Paul McKenna one hole was not an issue having temporarily conquered the temporary green scoring an eagle a first for Paul, wish i knew what hole it was.
A few reminders:
1. ticket books need to start coming back with the money collected, the draw is on Saturday 6th of May so please make every effort to meet this dead line
2. the second away game is on Sunday the 30th April putting comp 9.15am tee off 10am
3. club shirts, hats and umbrellas are now available, see Tony
See you all Saturday
cheers

All i can say is what a great club we have, the support shown in numbers week after week is fantastic, not mentioning any other club but i am sure they would like to see strong support on Saturdays like us. We saw 32 players turn out for the 1st qualifying round of the Bryant cup and the scores coming in were very impressive, but none more impressive than Robbo the "chip in Kings" 45 points well done and well played Robbo you have certainly put a royal stamp on that cup, keep it going, oh and it only cost you 2 off your handicap, i am thinking your current hot streak should see you in "A" grade for Mildura :). the other players that had great rounds were Graham Hunt with a super impressive 42, Penny Pearce shooting the lights again following her 46 points last Saturday with a very fine 42 points, Jason white with 41 points and yes that great Dane Klaus Ebdrup just won't go away also with 41 points, your hot streak has gone that long now surely there is nothing left to burn!!! well done guys, not to mention all the other players coming in with 40, 39 and 38 points.
I have to mention the very noticeable improvements in regards to the course conditions and for those that were not there on Saturday the credit for the small but hugely noticeable changes goes to the new head greens keeper / Superintendent Chris Stemmler. A few of us got to meet with him and his family before heading off on Saturday and it was such a pleasure, Chris very briefly explained his vision on what needs to be done with the course in the short term and i can only speak for myself, but for the first time in a long long time i am excited about seeing the future improvements of the golf course, so if you see Chris around say hi and i am sure he would appreciate to hear your feed back on the course conditions.
No around the course news was given so i guess no team players, not that i am aware anyhow.
Reminders:
1. Raffle ticket booklets need to start coming in as the draw is on the 6th of May
2. Echunga away game April 30th 9.15am putting comp 10am tee off, bring your own buggies as there are very limited carts available.
3. Eclectic if you want to be part of it, it will cost you $5 the sooner you pay the sooner all those eagles, birdies and pars you get will be counted.
4. The new Club shirts, hats and umbrellas are available now, see Tony Bryant if have ordered or wish to order them.
for all those going away for Easter and won't be there Saturday travel safe, have a very happy Easter and look forward to seeing you all soon,
for the others i will see you Saturday.
cheers

It is with a heavy heart, well maybe not that heavy, that i have to say history keeps on repeating itself for one Tony "captain bulmers" Bryant, who lead the chase for the golf bag after day one for the 8th time and once again just fell short on a 3 way count back, well played Tony but unfortunately for you a couple of other players had a day out, maybe next year, but if you are leading again my advice is forget week 2 and take your lovely wife out for lunch because we all know what the result will be lol.
A big day out it was for Hayden Coleman coming in with an absolute cracker of a score, 49 points and combined with his 31 points the week before it was good enough to win the Mike Taylor golf bag on a count back from David "DC5" Clarke and Tony Bryant all scoring 80 points over the 2 rounds, congratulations and very well played Hayden, i think your handicap will take a hit after that round.
Not only did Hayden have a day out but David (DC5) Clarke was on fire coming in with a very impressive 45 points, bet you thought you had the bag in the bag, i know i would have!! bad luck but well played, hopefully the blues can win this week for you, oh and for me.
A few team player to report this week:
1. Liz for four putting the ummm one of the holes ( forgot which one) JUG!!!
2. Kymbo for having an airy on the 15th JUG!!!
Reminders:
1. Club fees are now over due
2. Raffle tickets hope they are selling well, the draw is only 5 weeks away so i hope to see the sold books coming in very soon
3 Echunga away game is on Sunday the 30th April
4. if you have any news to report please let me know after the round
Monthly medal round this Saturday good luck to everyone
see ya Saturday
cheers

Once again we were greeted with a beautiful morning at Belair and the support in numbers teeing off each Saturday has been fantastic lets keep it going.
Saturday saw the first round of the Mike Taylor golf bag played out, with a very familiar name sitting at the top of the tree after round one, that name being Tony "Captain Bulmers" Bryant, for those that may not be aware of this fact, Tony has come in with the leading score after round one for the golf bag on eight occasions now ( yes eight) and unfortunately has managed to fall short in the second round every time. Well played Tony on achieving 41 points and i hope history doesn't repeat it self again. Runner up to Tony was Paul McKenna on 40 points and in third position with 39point was Jeff "Joffa" Gould, well played boys i guess it's anyone's bag on the day.
No course gossip was handed in to me so i can only assume everyone had a good round with no major team player events, but once again 1st tee off blues hit Jarrod Rowland, going "good morning campers" two weeks in a row now, i think Jarrod would rather be camping than playing golf at times, we know your sand bagging for Mildura :)
On behalf of the club i would like wish our club patron Rob Dale all the best going into hospital for a back operation this Monday, which will see him out of golf action for around 7 weeks. we wish you a quick and full recovery and hope we see you at the club even if you are unable to play for a while.
Just a few reminders:
1. fees are due by the end of March
2. Echunga away game is on the 30th April 10am tee off ( only 4 buggies available at this stage )
3. If you are planning on playing at Thaxted park Sunday Oct 15th you have to book your own buggy get in quick.
4. new club hats and shirts will become available this Saturday ( see Tony )
cheers for now, see you all Saturday

the 2017 winter season is off and running with the monthly medal going to the man that is on a super hot streak, playing some awesome golf Klaus the Danish king Ebdrup. On Saturday while playing for the Captains trophy Klaus managed to chip in for an eagle on the 17th, what ever your doing right now can you let the rest of us in on your secret.
Mike the "Champ" Taylor was too good for the rest of the field coming in with a very nice 42pts to win the 1st winter season major trophy "the Captains Trophy" well done Mike, but there could be one small problem, Penny who won the trophy last year is saying she is not giving it back :) might let someone else sort that one out.
runners up to Mike were Robbo and Mary with 41pts a peace, close but no cigar and in 3rd place with 40pts was myself.Having a quick look at the players results sheet a lot had scores above their handicaps, the course must be playing much easier hahahaha !!!!
No course gossip was handed in but they was a "good morning campers" shoot out on the 1st tee block between Jarrod and Paul Johnson, i felt sorry for Paul as he was suffering with a sore back and unfortunately only lasted 8 holes, we are all hoping your back is on the mend and that we see you out playing fitter than ever next week, as for Jarrod he is one of the bigger hitters in the club but when it goes pair shaped the the only way he would retrieve is ball would be to go door knocking in Blair.
Just a few reminders:
1. fees are due and must be payed by the last Saturday in March, or you will be ineligible to win Major trophies
2. the new club shirts and hats will be available next Saturday, you must pay for them before you can take them away
3. Club umbrellas are available for those wishing to re-new or upgrade
4. Hope you all selling your allocated "lots of loot" lottery tickets
5. If anyone wants something mentioned in the news letter please come and see me and we can discuss it
cheers
see you all on Saturday

We believe, One more trip on a boat Kymbo, and you will have shares in" P & O". Yes Kymbo and family were seen on another boat galavanting across the high seas. Sipping on G&T's and Margeritta's. Its a good life if you can get it. Half your luck Kymbo, hope you and your family had a great trip.
Well, back in reality, Klaus the ol Snake in the grass, the complainer, had a day out. Hitting off in the early group, Klaus posted 45 points, In stroke terms that is 76 off the stick, a day out. Normally you can here the Viking coming down the 18th but not today. Klaus had the ten times Club Champion, "The Doougs" covered with a five shot daylight gap between them. The course must have been in magnificent condition," heh Klaus", because "we not here you complain".
Rob Dale and Pete "the Terminator" O'Connor continue their downward slide. Posting 25 and 27 points respectively their score didn't reflect the amazing day of fine weather. Just good players going through a tough patch. I know just ask me, I have been going through it for almost 12 months. Hope yours doesn't last as long as mine guys!
A Grade is not doing so good for newly arrival Dave Kemp. Yes, 28 points will win you the L Plate most days Kempy. As I said to Jarrod, sorry I can't help ya.
At the other end of the spectrum, newly arrived Colin Priest has won A Grade with 34 points. The Champ has 37 points to snare B Grade from Conrad Peters on a count-back and Paul Johnson's form continues with 37 points to win C Grade.
For the fist time in a long time, no one could hit a green in the nearest the pin competition. The gyro's must have been out of commission.
Club Shirts are on sale now. $50 will buy you one of three different colured shirts and $20 will buy you a cap. Buying a shirt and a cap is helping supporting the club, to view these shirts an email would have been sent to you or you can go to the gallery and view them there.
Guys the Annual General Meeting is this Saturday at 7.00 am sharp. Even if you are not playing please attend this day as it is one of the most important days of the club. Breakfast will be provided.
See everyone at the AGM. |

Four days of heat two over 40 plus set the scene for Saturday. The Doougs and the Viking Klaus Ebrup walked off the 18th drenched in sweat from the humidity of a 34 degree day. By all reports Adelaide, (about 6,000 kilometers south of Brisbane ) was a worse place to be in than Brisbane with the high humidity.
Paul Johnson has been playing the Yo yo for his Summer Cup! Down at the bottom and then to the top with an impressive 41 points to have clear daylight between him and second placed Steve Belcher and Brenton Ranger, both with 37 points.
No girls on the course. Penny, Liz where were you girls? Me thinks that you girls were out buying dresses for the big night. You didn't bump into any cross dressing members left over from friday night did you now. Are those rumors true!
After a layoff for a few weeks it's good to see young Jarrod Rowland holding up A Grade with 30 points. Sorry I can't help you Jarrod, "I'm in B Grade".
The Patron of the cub must have been suffering in the heat posting 28 points to take last in C Grade. This wasn't the lowest score with Kymbo posting 28 points and Mark McKenna posting 21 points, only being saved by Peter O'connor disqualifying himself for last in B Grade.
Now for the Night of Nights, our Club Presentation Night. With Kymbo at the helm the Presentation Night is in good hands. Walk into the room Music by DJ Daniel is playing. With a complimentary drink in one hand, listening to all the hard luck stories coming from the golfers mouth, what a great start to the night.
A special moment for Darren Robertson. This year the clubman award was decided by members vote, and the members have spoken and awarded the clubman award to Darren " Robbo" Robertson. Congratulations Darren on a popular well deserved award.
There comes a time when you look back at your time on the committee, what you have achieved, the comraderie the years of service that you have put into the club. The reward, is life membership. This award you can't win, you have to work hard for the club and then be lucky enough to be selected by a panel to be what I believe to be the highest honour of our golf club, Life Membership.
Mates through life Kymbo and Steve Belcher, next door neighbour's from the age of 15, to say the least that they have been through a lot together. It is only fitting that a very emotional Kymbo deliver the highest honour the Mitsubishi Staff Golf Club has to offer to a very loyal mate and deserving member in Steve Belcher. Congratulations with Life Membership Steve.
After the award ceremony had completed formalities, it was time to drink, dance and be merry to the Music from Blue Frog Entertainment, DJ Daniel. To kick things off Dancing with the Stars couple Kymbo and Angela hit the dance floor with class and style and showed us some pretty fancy dance steps.
Lock up your father Jarrod! Ol Big Kev was showing us some fancy steps himself. Dancing with all the girls Big Kev could show a few youngins a thing or two. Looking good Big Kev!
The partying continued until midnight and the whole night, a huge success.
A reminder there will be a shirt fitting of three different colours of shirt this Saturday.
See you all this Saturday bright and early.
