With the first round of the Ceva sponsored Mitsi Trophy, we managed 23 players on Saturday. The day saw a mixed bag of results with quite a few blokes well in contention this week, and some that will have to wait until next year. This weeks winner, in a 4 way countback, was the Lady Bay Sherpa himself Big ' Best Driver / Chipper / Putter in the Club ' Kev Rowland with a round of 38 points. To get there, Big K came home strong with a back 9 score of 23 points. Well played Mr Rowland...
Grade winners this week were Steve ' Waikerie ' Belcher in A Grade with 37 points. Paul ' Sucked in you two 'wins his golf ball for B Grade after knocking off Robbo and Kempie in a countback with 38 points to win B Grade. Dave ' Hot Potato ' Clarke wins C Grade with 34 points.
Plate winners this week were Matty ' Kev shot more points on his back 9 ' Loan in A Grade with 22 points, but has to play anyway because he's tee master. K 'Maybe I should play more ' Wheeler takes it for B Grade with 26 points, and Super ' I remember when I was B Grade ' Mann takes the plate in C Grade with 27 points.
To round out Kevs' big day out, the young bloke also managed a nearest the pin on the 7th, and then stole the cash from the Birdie pool witha great putt on the 14th for a 4 for 4.... Great stuff Kev, you can put it on the bar in Mildura if you like.
Colin ' About time I got back in the news ' Priest is this weeks only team player after falling short on the 3rd...
Kymbo found a new way to play the 15th last week. The Pres managed to zig zag all the way from tee to green, with each shot going into the trees and coming back out onto the fairway... I knew he was a bloody A Grader hiding in B Grade, with arsey shots like that.
Round 2 this week boys, followed by a week of tea, bikkies and early nights playing scrabble for some of us, as we head off to Mildura on Sunday.
See you boys then
Cheers

With the rain about, and Bryant Classic Semi Finals taking place, it was good to see 17 players rock up on Saturday. And in a game worthy of a Semi Final, Kymbo and Frankie took their game to the 19th hole before finding a winner. The other match unfortunately didn't last that long, with Hunny getting on a 4 hole winning run from the 9th, and ended up winning 4 & 3 on the 15th. So congrats to both Kymbo and Hunny for the Final, taking place after we get back from Mildura..... Let's see now who tries to protect their handicap when their is a threat of a daily onesie on offer.....
For the rest of you blokes, it was another game of stableford, with Tony ' Bang, Bang ' Bryant winning the golf balls and bragging rights, with a score of 39 points. Well played Bulmers, and glad it wasn't you that got arrested for pulling out the handgun after being called for slow play !! The Facebook story sure looked like you being put in the back of a divvy van.....
Grade winners this week were Pete ' Is it Mildura Sunday Yet ? ' Rowe in A Grade with 32 points. Joff ' I'm dressed for fishin' or golf, depends what this weather does ! ' Gould wins B Grade on a countback from Robbie ' I need to back a winner soon ' Dale with 36 points. Robbie ' Suck on that Billy ' wins C Grade with 36 points as well.
Plate winners were Matty ' Shoulda backed Hunny in ' Loan in A Grade with 25 points. Phil ' Referee's get no credit ' Edwards takes the B Grade plate with 22 points and Billy ' I'm spending this week looking for my g-spot ' Bollard grabs the C Grade plate with 25 points.
No confirmed team players this week, but only 'cos we couldn't find Jarrods' ball after his drive on the 18th that launched into the trees above where we park our buggies before walking up to the tee.... Everyone but Nan was sure keen to try and find it.....
And of all the blokes to take aim at on the course, The Champ wouldn't be one of your first choices..... But apparently, that is exactly what Billy ' I'll take ya ' Bollard did.... launching his ball straight at Mick and his cart on the 5th tee. From all accounts, Billy never got the chance to forget it, with Mick serving up a mouthful everytime they crossed paths around the course. Obviously you've never seen Mick Taylor in Wolf Creek Billy !!!!!
With winter coming, looks like we are breaking into a new season of Fashion on the Fields, with Joff looking like he was ready to wade into a fast moving creek for some fly fishing. But he paled in comparison to his sidekick DC - 5. On hearing of the upcoming Wiggle wedding, Clarkey has gone all out in his attempt to fill in during their honeymoon, looking very dapper in his black skivvy !!! Feel free boys to give him a wiggle finger wave when you next see him.
This week is the start of another 2 week comp boys for the Mitsi Trophy.
Tee sheets are now up for Victor and Echunga... Get on it.
See you boys on Saturday
Cheers

Surprisingly low turn out again last week for for the May Monthly Medal, sponsored by Mike and Cathy Smith. With the showdown on Sunday, was strange to only have 15 players turn up in decent weather for a Monthly Medal. But thanks to those who didn't, because this months' medal winner was Robbo, taking the pin with a net 66.
Grade winners this week were Mike ' Gondolphin ' Taylor in A Grade with a net 69. Phil ' Late Start ' Edwards wins B Grade with a net 69, and DC - 5 manages to out do Billy in a two horse race in C Grade with a net 73.
Plate winners this week were Jase ' I'll let you win one Robbo ' Whitey in A Grade with a net 77. Paul ' Who let Billy in our group ! ' McKenna takes it for B Grade, and Billy ' I'm just doin' what I do ' Bollard takes it for C Grade with a net 75.
No news from the round, as when the tee master group got back to the 19th, everyone had cleared out already.
After a disappointing number of confirmed starters, unfortunately the decision has been made to cancel the Mad Hatters Dinner & Dance night. It is a shame, as a lot of work had already gone in to organising a great night out, but with the lack of numbers booking a table, a decision had to be made before any more investment of both time and money. Thanks to those who worked hard to get to this point, shame it was in vain.
Sunday saw the guys and Penny head down to take on The Links Lady Bay Course. And as usual, Kymbo managed to pick a great day for it, with no wind and clear skies. It was another day of carts heading in all directions, laughs and good golf... for some anyway!! Most of us were glad that no one else there felt as bad as Graham ' Staying vertical is my greatest challenge today ! ' Hunt looked. Big Jase went from shithouse to penthouse in a weekend, winning the day with 37 points. Tony ' Tick, tick, tick..... waiting for the boom !! ' Bryant collected the NAGA. Penny played well enough to take out Ladies winner... and Ladies NAGA.
With the Bryant Classic Semi Finals on this week, and our sponsor Mark Fusco unable to attend the weekend of the Final, there will be a BBQ held after this weeks round. So please try to hang around after golf this week boys.
Good luck Kymbo, Frankie and.... who's that other bloke playing ? Oh yeh, good luck Hunny, make sure you have an Alcohol Free Day on Friday mate.....
See you blokes on Saturday
Cheers

With ANZAC Day and the threat of another rainy day at Belair, it was great to see another 25 blokes front up last week. Unfortunately, the days sponsor, Holly Jaekel, was unable to make it out on the day.... I think maybe Ronnie was still trying to prize open the locks she has on her piggy bank.
After a minutes silence on the tee, it was also announced that we would also be playing for a one off ANZAC Trophy, in recognition of the 100 year anniversary. And the winner of both prizes for the day was Tommy ' There goes another stroke 'Dougan. Everyone's favourite MAMIL won the day with 42 points, and further pissing him off that this hot streak of form started a week late !!! Well played Tommy, at least you have already booked a trophy for Presso night, shame it won't be the Bryant Classic tho'.......
Grade winners this week were Mick ' Just call me li'l Singo ' Taylor, matching his horses form to take A Grade with 39 points. Graham 'If I keep this up, I'll have to give you matchplay holes Robbo ' Hunt wins B Grade and swaps a stroke for a ball with 41 points. Billy ' Where's my bacon and egg gone ' Bollard wins the two horse race in C Grade with 33 points.
Plate winners this week were Jarrod ' This has to help for Mildura ' Rowland in A Grade with 24 points. Dave ' It bloody better Jarrod ' Kemp takes it for B Grade with 23 points, and Robbie ' How the hell did I lose to Billy ' wins it in C Grade with 30 points.
And thanks to no help from anyone else out on the course, that is it this week boys.....
Monthly Medal this weekend boys, and Lady Bay away game on Sunday.... Get your names down.
Don't forget to book your tables for the Mad Hatters In June
Cheers Boys

With the first wet day in a while, we still managed 23 players on Saturday, well 22 finishers and the ghost who drives a cart !!! But in the battle for the Phil Edwards sponsored day, maybe we all should have have stayed drinking ports after Buzz came through his round with 25 points on the back nine, as it didn't get any worse for the matchplay speed bump. Having already scrubbed the 9th hole in his early round, the man with dreams of wearing crocheted shorts on the course after Nan does some stitching, easily won the pleasure of helping Phil lighten his load.... of cash that is, shooting a fantastic 47 points !! Great stuff lycra man, glad you waited a week before producing that master class.
Grade winners this week were Tony ' Bloomers ' Bryant in A Grade with 37 points. B Grade goes to Paul ' F%^^$, S&^%, C*%#,P$#%, Motherf#$%##$ and repeat ' McKenna with 39 points, and Super still keeps Billy off the podium with 34 points in C Grade.
Plate winners were Matty ' Yeh, I got nothin' ' Loan in A Grade with 24 points. Kymbo ' It's all about Mildura or Matchplay ' Tolius wins it for B Grade with 22 points, and Dave ' Stick it up your a... ' Clarkey takes it for C Grade with 32 points.
As for team players this week, well let's just say that Nando should have been the busiest bloke there on Saturday !! ' Dancin' on the Ladies ' Lionel fell short on the 3rd tee, ' Can I put in a powerpoint for ya instead of the jug ' Hunny follows on the 4th. DC-5 felt the pressure of the Pres, VP and VC tongue slurping and 4 putted the 9th. Kymbo decided to break it up a bit, with a back breaking swoosh airy on the 18th to prove that he is indeed, a team player. But, the best of the day, which all of his playing group couldn't wait to dob in, was Tommy !!! Buzz decided to try and go to infinity and beyond on the 9th, skying the ball off the tee... and a few moments later in came back down.... short of the public, never mind the ladies !!!! Great stuff Tommy, now you've broken your jug virginity, you'll understand that it don't hurt that much !!!!!
And what the hell is with the names going in the Sunday Mail results ??.... Bloody hell, you'd think we were sending in the names by braille to end up with the names they're creating.... And who is this D Robertson that has joined the Club ???
Looks like another wet one this week boys, so make sure ya bring ya brollies...
See you blokes on Saturday, after the dawn service
Cheers

Last weekend saw the quarter finals of the matchplay for the Bryant Classic Trophy, with 8 very keen blokes looking to make it through to the semis' . But unfortunately, only 4 could go through to the next round. Firstly, thanks to all that took part and played in the right spirit, with no complaints from any game. Secondly, bad luck to Rowie, DC - 5 , Colin L and Tommy, just not your year I guess, but very worthy competitors.
Congrats to Frankie (4 & 3 over Clarkey ), Kymbo ( 6 & 4 over Pete ) and Hunny ( 3 & 1 over Col ) on your wins boys. Well played, and good luck in the Semis' . Thanks Buzz, for making me produce a once a year round to get up 5 & 4.... Never looked easy after we circled all the holes you had to give me a shot on, but thankfully, I didn't need them all anyway.
For the rest of the Club, we still had another 15 finishers this week, with a new player to the Club, J . Voight winning the day with 41 points, according to the Sunday Mail.... Funny that, he shot the same score as Big Jase ' I can birdie the 17th without leaving the ground... Go Cathy !!! ' White. Well played mate, welcome back to the winners circle.
Grade winners this week were Steve ' Do I win $10 every week if I turn up on time ? ' Belcher in A Grade with 37 points. Rob ' I'm such an athlete, I can still walk the course if I have too !! ' wins B Grade with 35 points. Super Mann stays white hot, winning C Grade 39 points.
Plate winners this week were Matty ' Somehow added to my ecclectic this week ' Loan in A Grade with 20 points, Phil ' I want back in C Grade ' Edwards with 30 points. Robbie ' When's Lady Bay ? ' Gardner takes C Grade with 23 points.
3 blokes put their hands in the till this week, cleaning out the birdie hole jackpot on the 12th hole, for a collect of over $40 each. Well played Paul ' The Phantom marks my card ' Hughes, Matty ' At least I did something right today' Loan, and Tommy ' Shut up Robbo.. ' Dougan.
It seems everyone wants to have a go on the McKenna joyflights lately, with this week Jawwod having a crack with the sand wedge, not once, but twice ( 9th and 17th )... although he was claiming sunscreen on his hands was the cause !!!
Team players this week were Billy and ...... Billy !!! Everyones' favourite course gnome fell short of the ladies on the 4th, and then created a little piece of Billy magic. After making a big song and dance about making the 8th green in 2 shots for the for the first time ever, for Bill then 4 putted the hole. To round out a very ordinary day, Billy then managed to fall victim to the Par the 16th, Go in the Park on the 17th curse. Great stuff Kermie.
Catch you boys on Saturday
Cheers

With Aprils Monthly Medal, sponsored by Mike and Cathy Smith, falling on the Easter long weekend, the numbers were down a little this week. But we still managed 16 finishers, and a few DQ's, as Tommy ' Bollard is a lunatic' Dougan finds winning form to win the medal with a nett 64. Playing later than usual, with the Bryant / Bollard bookends providing him jugs on the way round, Tommy had a great day out. Well played Tommy, hopefully you go from the penthouse to the shithouse this week in our matchplay....
Grade winners this week were ' 1,2,3... 4 putt ' Bulmers in A Grade with a nett 68. Despite arriving on Ben Dale timeafter a sleep in, ' Dozey ' Robbo somehow managed to win B Grade, on ca countback from Phil, with a nett 72. Young Supers' form fluctuations continue, this week taking out C Grade with a great round of nett 67.
Plate winners this week were DQ Kempie in A Grade, who obviously lost his mojo with the slow play on Saturday, alongwith the McKenna Sisters, who can draw straws for the B Grade plate. Billy ' I was in awe of the knob ' Bollard takes the plate for C Grade with his nett 83.
Team players this week were ' Sucked in Robbo, none for you !! ' Bloomers Bryant with a 4 putt on the 1st hole... nothing like getting 'em in early Tone. Matty ' Forget the one on lay-by , I'll get this one ' Loan falls short on the 4th tee, and Billy ' I just can't get enough of the knob ' Bollard keeps Tommy amused late in the day with a 4 putt on the 15th.
Birdie hole has jackpotted again boys, and will be worth well over $100 this week...
Good luck to all those involved in Match Play this week.
And Belch, Robbie wants you too enjoy your shift as tee master this week, after failing to arrange a back up last week...
I'll catch the committee boys on Thursday night, and the rest of you blokes on Saturday.
Cheers Boys

With the second and final round of the Manufacturing Focus sponsored Bryant Classic, it was great to see another great turnout of 25+ players on the Saturday. Winning the day, with a more appropriate score for the course conditions was Rowie, with a great Mildura bound round of 43 points. Well played 'Pistol 'Pete... keep it up, would be great to see you play off single fingers in Mildura !!
So, the Semi Finals will be played as 1 v 8 , 2 v 7 etc...And those that made the cull are.....
Frankie ' I love matchplay ' Balter v Dave ' Maybe bootscootin' is not for me ' Clarke
Graham ' Glad McCracken didn't count ' Hunt v Colin ' Just as well I left Harry behind ' Leek
Pete ' I'm never grumpy ' Rowe v ' The Portified President ' Kymbo
' What odds are you offering, Dale ' Robbo v Tommy ' The lycra lunatic ' Dougan
Just a reminder boys, check the Club Calender on the locker to make sure you are available for the semis, quarters and final !!! If not, you will need to withdraw and allow a reserve to step up. All games must be played on the set dates, so do the the right thing and let us know early to avoid walk throughs to the following round.
Good luck to everyone in their matchplay, and Tommy, simple rules for our game... we'll have 5 ports before the toss hey ??
Grade winners this week were Jarrod ' Wish I didn't work last weekend ' Rowland in A Grade with 38 points. B Grade goes to ' I just wish I played like this last week ' Joffa, and C Grade goes to the other Rowland sister, ' If want ya want my body, and ya think I'm sexy ' Big Kev, with 39 points. Not bad considering he just had the stitches from his surgery taken out on the Friday, and backed up again to claim 3rd place at McCracken on Sunday... Don't choke away game champ of 2015 !!!
Plate winners this week were Matty ' I'll put one of them on back order ' Loan in A Grade with 29 points, Phil ' That wasn't the plan ' Edwards in B with 20 points. And poor ol' Super, wasn't sure if he was going to play in the morning, until the meds kicked in. Unfortunately for him, they obviously wore off during the day, taking the plate for C Grade with 29 points....Last seen humming The Verve Song "The Drugs Don't Work " .
Team players this week were Matty ' Two Jugs ' Loan with a 4 putt on the 8th, and an airy on the 15th. And how's the form of Pete ' Alfie Noakes ' O'Connor, after not making the ladies on the 4th tee, yells out to us on the 3rd green " No worries Robbo, won the Birdie Hole !!!'" And fair enough we thought, win over $80, a 6 pack isn't gonna break the bank.... Until as tee master after the game and checking his card, he only shot a 3 for 3.... BOM BOM. Sorry Sarah, it's a birdie or better / 4 points or better to take the cash!!!
Even though we only had a smaller than usual turn out for Sundays' away game, everyone that made the trip were well rewarded... well, not Col ' Which green Jarrod ' Priest I guess. Chris ' Cash Cow ' Kay won the putting comp and the day with 44 points, ahead of Hunny and Big Kev, after Ken refused to put in his card after shooting 48 points !!!!
Worst memory of the weekend.... Big Kev going the tongue on Kymbo on the first on Saturday !!! Either that, or watching the heartbreak in Kymbo's eyes as he watched a 2 litre flagon of port roll out the door and smash as we arrived for our sleepover at McCracken on Saturday afternoon....
April Monthly Medal up for grabs this week boys.
For those going away for Easter, Enjoy the break and stay safe on the roads.
I'll see everyone else on Saturday
Cheers

With a chill in the morning air, it was good to have another solid turnout of over 25 players on Saturday for the first round of the Manufacturing Focus sponsored Bryant Classic. With the conditions and preferred lies, it was another surprisingly low score that set the benchmark for the first week. And coming out the winner in a three way countback was none other than the prime suspect, Frankie ' Tuesday's for handbrakin' ' Balter with a score of 41 points. Everyones' favourite burglar after the hamburglar did enough to beat Paul ' Blackhawk Grounded ' McKenna and Graham 'How the hell do you lose a countback with 23 on the back 9 !! ' Hunt. Well played Frankie, but no one is guaranteed a spot in the semis, so the final 8 for Matchplay is still open for quite a few players.
Grade winners this week were the ball stretching Bulmers in A Grade with 37 points, and Paul ' My chopper licence has been revoked after a pitiful attempt that never left the hands on the 15th tee' McKenna in B grade with 41 points. Hunny takes out C Grade, also with 41 points, but couldn't repeat the good form for the Holden Scramble at Blackwood G.C on Sunday.
Plate winners this week are Dave 'Give me your money if you want in on the footy tipping ' Kemp in A Grade with 30 points. Joffa is maybe reconsidering wether sculling a full glass of port on the 1st is such a great idea, taking the plate with 22 points.... Just take it with you next time Joff, crikey that was painful to watch. Billy ' Don't forget your cash ' Bollard claims the C Grade with his 28 points.
With Mark Fusco playing as sponsor, it would be a bit harsh to list the amount of times he was up for a jug, so that leaves yours truly as the only team player this week, after a shite drive on the 3rd that just managed to burst through the bushes, but well short of the ladies... Shame you weren't in our group Bulmers, you would have got some back mate.
Word around the course is that we all need to be on the lookout for a new player, apparently goes by the name of Bach Spin Kym... Notify Robbie Dale if ya spot him... And congrats to Chris K for his golden sandy on the friday at the Flying Doctor Ambrose Day, your playing group were impressed. Good to see a few Mitsi boys on Sunday at the Holden Scramble.... Nice shirts boys!!!
Last week to pay your fees boys.... If your not financial, you do not qualify for the Bryant Classic.
Here's hoping there is no late Friday night shenanigans that see another street sign put in the holes this week.... although they did a pretty good job, and didn't damage the hole that much, Tommy has a good photo of it if you haven't seen it.
Don't forget McCracken on Sunday
Catch you blokes on Saturday

Another Saturday in March, another nightmare for the tee masters but great for the Club, as another tee sheet of over 30 players rock up to take part in the first major trophy for the new season. With the Captains Trophy up for grabs, everyone it seems wanted to have a crack. The first bloke to book his tickets for this years trophy night, is Matty '6 pack on board, volume on mute ' Loan. The Vice Captain won the day with a score of 41, a score that surprised many, mainly due to the fact everyone was expecting you would have needed at least 44 given the conditions on the day. Well played Matty, but we should have made you have a few more ports..
Grade winners this week were Captain ' The employed tram driver, with his own teeth, shaven....' Bulmers with a round of 38 points in A Grade. Phil ' B Grade is easier than C Grade ' Edwards takes out B Grade with 39 points, and Andy ' MAMIL ' Harding beats Dougie Glover in a countback on 40 points to win C Grade.
Plate winners this week were Jase ' But I beat the good looking Bollard ' White with 34 points in A Grade. Mark ' I remember the glory days ' Harris takes the B Grade plate with 27 points, and DC - 5 plays like shit to claim the C Grade plate with 29 points.
The only team player reported this week, mainly because he was in my group, was Bulmers. The big man, wanting to win his own trophy, wound up like a mad man on the 3rd tee, wanting to launch his drive... only problem is, he had other things on his mind after a chat on the 2nd tee block. Poor ol' Tone was still interested in the art of ball stretching, chuckling to himself.... Right up until the point that his ball even failed to cross the path in front of the tee block, nevermind the ladies. Cheers Bulmers, hope you have been studying the finer details of ball stretching, before you go racing in and causing yourself an injury by going too hard too soon.
First qualifiers of the Bryant Classic this week, which used to be known as the Raynor Cup... So another friendly reminder, if fees aren't paid by end of March, you are unable to win any major trophy.
Also, don't forget to put your name down for McCracken if you are playing, and you can now tick the box on the online tee sheet if you want a cart... we play Sunday week, the 29th March.
Cheers boys
Catch ya on Saturday
