He Missed it! Mark Squire Putts like his Football Team, Crap!
Tuesday, 08 September 2009 20:21
The scene is set, a tap in putt to finish the hole (1 inch from the hole and it's all over). No left to right or right to left break, no speed issues to worry about just a little tap in putt to finish off the hole. Up steps Mark Squire to the plate, batter up and hey presto it's all over. Well Mark putted like Norh Melbourne played this year, Crap. He strikes the ball and moves the ball 3/4 of an inch the ball rocked and came to a standstill a 1/4 of an inch from the hole. Bad luck Mark, better luck next time. By the way Mark there is still always room on the Crows Gravy Train for extra supporters .
Okay lets talk about the Snake in the Grass lerking in the tall grass. Klaus Ebdrup put in another fine performance taking the day from Dave Kemp on a countback. Klaus shot a 78 of the stick only 2 shots away from Ray Saxby's lowest off the stick 76 for the year. Thats great golf Klaus. Bad luck to Dave Kemp who shot an 82 off the stick to come in with a nett 64 as well, also good golf too Dave.
Phil Salvemini has been back for a while but it's good to see Phil back and playing golf after is absence for a short period of time, its also good to see Ray Saxby playing again as well after his fall.
Congratulations to Damien Chicco on the birth of his little girl, well done Damien.
Lindsay Jones rang myself the other night from Collie in Western Australia and sends his regards to everyone at the Club. Linsay will be back at the end of October and is looking forward to catch up with everyone and play a little golf.
Congratulations to Frankie Balter, Phil Edwards and Graham Hunt on winning the L Plates in your respective Grades.
The club would also like to take the opportunity to welcome Steve McKenna's Brother Paul Mckenna on joining our club.

Kemp!Kemp!Kemp!
Tuesday, 01 September 2009 19:45
David Kemp has done it again, Dave will have to bring a trailer to presentation night this year to take all his trophies home.
Dave and playing partner Steve McKenna (no a in McKenna Steve) have been playing like yo yo's in the last couple of weeks. Steve won a couple of weeks ago and Dave has won this week. The only trouble is that when they loose they come last, talk about extremes.
At least they win I'm just near the bottom all the time lately, (just a crap player playing crap). I have an excuse for playing bad, Rob Dale took his shirt off on the second hole and I never recovered from that. As a matter a fact I don't think anyone in our group recovered from that.
When you play bad you start to get worried about winning that rotten L plate, Frankie and myself came in with 33 points each, and I, at that stage had won the dam thing on a count back, but thanks to Steve Belcher coming in with 31 points he took it off me, thanks Steve.
Congratulations to Steve Belcher, Phil Edwards and Steve Cunningham on winning the L Plates in your respective Grades. There will be a presentation this week to Celebrate the joy.
All Raffle books have to be in this week. It is the monthly medal drawn event this week followed by the two week competition, the Mitsubishi Cup.

The Snake in the Grass Returns
Thursday, 27 August 2009 10:00

Klaus Ebdrup the snake in the grass returns to put in a fine score of 78 off the stick 3 points clear of his nearest rival Super Man.

What a day Klaus, win the day in golf and go and watch the crows thump West Coast.

I (Tony Bryant) played with Klaus and yes he was pulling em out of his arse. He would say to me if I could only chip I'd be playing off 8 and then proceed to put the ball 3 inches from the hole. Meanwhile Phil and myself were just struggling to fight off the L plate, but I see I won it again, Great.

Looking in the paper I see Frankie won A Grade again, how many balls ya got now Frankie.

I see there were a few trying to win the L plate in B Grade but don't worry Dave Kemp I know how you feel.

The club would like to welcome new Members F Mackenna, F Laird and F Cunningham, good on those Sunday Mail girls again for geting it wright.

Steve MacKenna takes the day but Kym Tolius was still Smouldering
Monday, 17 August 2009 19:59

Steve MacKenna, oh what a day! Fourty Points, a fine score but to much to late. If only a little better than 21 points last week and a new Bridgestone Driver may have nestled in your bag Steve.

Meanwhile back at the Ranch the Firebrigade last week put Kym Tolius out with petrol instead of water. Kym was just smouldering all week. Thirtyfive points was all Kym needed to snag the Bridgestone Driver, should look good in your bag Kym.

Dave Kemp, Dave Dave Dave. Eighteen points after seven holes, started dreaming of polishing the driver in his bag a little to soon. Steve MacKenna Peter Rowe saw to his demise. They put the Kiss of Death on him and had 17 points for the rest of the day.

In my group there was a little father son rivalry going on. Justin Pitcher was givin it to his Dad all day, but in the end the old sly fox came out with the points.

At the end of our round I had had an average day. I made a little come back, out of contention for the Driver ( unless I hid behind a tree and clubbed Kym with say a 3 iron in the legs or something). I had just come off par, birdie. Standing on the eighteenth I wacked one down there, in the process I called out for divine intervention as I saw my ball ( the second most popular ball in the world) sail off to the right, a slice and nestle somewhere in the Belair Park Jungle near the shed. I say Jungle if you ventured over there you would know what I am talking about, wasn't sure whether I would make it out alive or not.

I decided to leave the ball for a Kangaroo to find and to proceed on.

The club would like to thank Rob Hayden and Bridgestone for their genorous prizes that they have given the club and there continued support for the Mitsubishi Golf Club.

Kym Tolius On Fire
Monday, 10 August 2009 19:12

I am surprised anyone could play the front nine at all after Kym Tolius set fire to the front nine.

I (Tony Bryant) spoke to Kym on the seventh, he told me that he had had a 6 on the first hole and then parred every hole after that.

Going out with 21  and coming in with 18 points Kym won the day with 39 points. The Firebrigade are just dousing the flames as we speak.

Conditions were good although a little soggy under foot. The sun was shinning and the birds were singing but looking at the scores a few people stuffed the day up, oh well there is always next week.

Peter Rowe hasn't worked out how to use the Gps yet, looking at his score I think he needs to. Chris Kay had had enough and spent the last five holes watching the Saints do a number on Hawthorn.

Anyway anyone who played in week one of the Bridgestone Driver Trophy will have a chance to win the Driver. You say to yourself I had a crap round, just ask Kymbo. Kym had probably one of his worst rounds of golf, just 29 points. Kym was sitting dead last for the first round of the Bridgestone Golf bag one year. From last to first, Kym shot an amazing round of 46/48 points and won the bag.

Good luck to everyone.

A Good Day had by All
Monday, 03 August 2009 13:10

What a finish to the Putting competition!

It would have been great to win the monthly medal, but there was something else going on that day. A Sure Shot GPS unit worth over $400.

Playing with Rob Dale can be quite interesting to say the least, especilally if he is on a par 3 and qualified for the gps. Travelling around the course Rob was trying to sell his qualification to all of his playing group.

When Kym Myself and Rob had all qualified and Steve Belcher hadn't, well did we all give it to Steve." Are you on Kym, are you on Tony, oh Steve are you on". Eventually Steve got on on the 16th and qualified.

The putting was tense, even from one metre away. There were a couple of early exits from the first round( Rob, Waza, and Darren Robertson).

The putting competition started to sort the men from the boys in the second round. I must have been a boy cos I got knocked out in the second round.

Well they all started to drop like flies until there were only four left. Peter Rowe, Graham Mann, David Kemp (we were thinking of disqualifying Dave as he didn't have the appropriate foot wear on) and Steve Belcher. They were putting from about 6 metres away. The atmosphere was electic with special comments coming from Rob Dale. Everybody was going close except for Steve Belcher who was always short and getting plenty of coaching from the sidelines. Graham Mann putted a great shot and looked in all the way until the end and it lipped out.(good putter out of luck).

Everyone had their chances except for Steve always short (blamed it on the port he was drinking). Dave Kemp just lipped out as well. Then Peter Rowe stepped up to the plate and just Dropped it from eight metres away. All the challenges just fell by the wayside, and finally Steve put one behind the hole but not in. Well done Peter Rowe the winner of the Sure Shot GPS, he'll probably need it after having a nett 80 in the monthly but medal. At this moment I don't think he really cares about that score.

Overall a good day had by all.

Snake in the Grass Klaus Ebdrup takes the Monthly Medal
Monday, 03 August 2009 12:54

Sitting in the club house awaiting a countback, Darren Robertson and Rob Dale were waiting patiently to see if anyone would come with a better score than 66 nett.

Quietly Klaus Ebdrup arrives, we asked him how he went and he said that he had an 80. Klaus has won the L plate on a number of occasions. Klaus and Steve Belcher have been sharing the plate over the last few weeks, so we all thought that he had a shocker. He then told us that it was off the stick and that he had won the day with a nett 65. Klaus Ebdrup the snake in the grass.

I (Tony Bryant) have been dreading the day that I win that retched trophy that you don't have to try to hard to win, the L Plate. Finally that day has come, I've won it, but I wont be alone because as from next week the A graders will share the joy of winning L Plates. All grades will have the opportunity to win L Plates. All the A Graders would like to welcome everyone to this very exclusive club.

Sure Shot GPS Competition this Saturday
Wednesday, 29 July 2009 12:48

Sure Shot GPS Donated by Lindsay Jones

Lindsay Jones is putting up a GPS unit valued at over $300. To win this Prize you firstly have to make yourself available to play the stroke round on Saturday the 1st of August ( Only Mitsubishi club members are eligiable to play for this trophy).

To have a chance at winning the Gps you have to land on any Par 3 green putting surface (Target Green) or on the 18th hole be one of the longest drives. This will enable you to proceed to the next stage.

To decide who will win the GPS unit a putting competition will come into play. You will have 3 putts and must drop 2 attempts from one metre away. If you are succsessful after the first stage of putting the remaining putters will then move to 2 metres away and have to drop one putt out of 3 attempts.

The next stage is from 3 metres away and you will have to drop 1 putt out of 2 attempts. The final stage you will have to drop one putt out of one attempt from 4 metres away until there is a winner.

Good Luck To All that Participate.

Dave Kemp Wins!
Saturday, 13 June 2009 22:44

Dave Kemp Wins Captains Trophy.

Dave Kemp, the quiet achiever. I (Tony Bryant) played with Dave on Saturday. Dave started off pretty poorly on Saturday with a 6 on the first, but slowly started to get it together. Concentrating on my own game, I thought I was going reasonably well and didn't pay much attention to Dave.

On the eighth hole Dave got on for 2 and had an uphill birdie putt from about 8 feet. Well he really botched it up. Not going passed once but 3 times coming off with a 6. Apparently Dave, 4 putts on any hole is a Jug of Beer, we are all still waiting.  You would have thought his game was over then, but no, at the turn he was well placed with a 42.

On the 12 hole I asked Steve Mckenna how he was going, and he said that he had shot a 41 going out. That was the end of Steve, I put the kiss of death on him. He crashed and burned coming home with a 47 and was out of contention.

Zac Kingston for the second week in a row had a great round and was the leader in the club house with a net 65, but not for long as our group was the next in.

Congratulations to Dave Kemp on winning the Captains Trophy.

Everybody, Lindsay Jones is putting up a prize of a GPS valued at over $300 for next week. It would be great if everyone could turn up and support Lindsay's Competition. Details of the Competition will be explained on the Day.
