What a difference a week makes !! After dodging downpours and lightening bolts last week, this week saw 21 players take on the heat at Belair for the rematch of the Club Champ Semis. And there was a few surprises as well, with Belch defeating Buzz on the 2nd extra hole and Frankie knockin off Jarrod 4 & 3, and Billy taking out DC - 5 3 & 2. Other results were Bulmers def Ronnie J 2 & 1, Matty def Rowie 7 & 6 and Paul H def Phil 2up. Well done to all you blokes for backing up again, congrats to the winners, and better luck next year to the others.
So next weeks finals matches are
Club Champion
Bulmers V Belcher
B Grade
Matty V Frankie
C Grade
Paul H V Billy
As for the rest of us, Kempie started his late charge to get into A Grade for the Summer Cup, with a great round of 41 points. Well played Kempie.
Grade winners were Jase 'Eagle Boy' Whitey in A Grade with 38 points, Steve 'Scotch Jammin' ' McKenna takes B Grade with 37 points, and Hunny somehow does it again, winning C Grade with 33 points.
Plate winners this week were Klaus ' That's a bit harsh' Ebdrup in A Grade with 35 points,Joff goes from penthouse to shithouse with his 26 points in B Grade, and Rob 'When is our first away game? ' Gardner takes it for C Grade with 22 points.
Two team players this week with Robbie G having an airy in the 10th bunker... even tried to find someone, anyone on the course to try and help him avoid buying a round !!! Going price was more expensive than the round... And Joff helped out his playing group, 4 putting the 17th .
Whitey and Tommy D both shot eagles on the day.. both winning a six pack of balls. Birdie hole survived again, so will now be getting up around the $100 mark.
And as for Robbie ' Formguide ' Dale... Great for offering up tips, but crap when he posts the odds. On Saturday, RD threw out the odds of 100/1 on Belcher to beat Dougan. " I'll take that for a $1 " I said.... Needless to say, no money came my way after the all clear was given on the result.
Good luck to you boys in the finals,
Don't forget to pay for Trophy Night , Dec 13 $45 a head, payable to Big Kev.
Cheers Boys

Last Saturday saw 26 members and 2 potential members turn up to play the second round of the Mike Taylor Golf Bag. And the winner of the day also managed to rip the bag from Bulmers' hands.... Joff Gould left the Club Captain a shattered man, coming in with a score of 42 points. Well done Joff, and hopefully we won't see the bag listed on Robbie D's favourite site, Green Leaf, early in the new year. And bad luck Bulmers.... But I guess after six attempts leading first round of a two week comp and winning nothing, the pain must be easier to take!!
Grade winners this week were Klaus 'Almost won another bag for my shed' Ebdrup in A Grade with 42 points. Matty 'Don't wanna go to A Grade' Loan wins B Grade with 41 points, and Hunny steals the glory from Big Kev in C Grade with 38 points. And just on that, how good was it to have Big K back with the Mitsi family, after a very difficult few weeks. Welcome back mate, and great talk on the tee block.
Plate winners this week were Frankie ' I'll be safe here' Balter in A Grade, coming in with a 36 point round and a souvenir. Greg 'Maybe it's not Bulmers...Maybe it's just me?' Mathews goes back to back in B Grade with 28 points, and Phil 'Nothing to see here' Edwards takes it for C Grade with 29 points.
No team players this week...
In the Presidential grouping this week, we had the pleasure of playing with 2 potential members... Col Train and Harry. Hopefully the boys had a great time and will be back out again and join the Club.
And poor ol' Frankie... Thinking he would be safe hiding behind a tree while waiting for The Champ to hit, the last thing anyone expected was for Mike to turn his slice into a hook!!! But, aunfortunately for Frankie, he did that and more.... and the ball hooked around the tree and smacked Frankie straight in the guts, just below the rib cage, and dropping the little bloke. And looking at the bruising after the game, not even sure how he played out the round. Photo's were taken and will be posted at some stage.
Match play Semis this week boys... Good luck to those in contention.
See you out there

Thinking the threat of rain had passed us by, 23 players took to the 1st tee for the opening round of the Mike Taylor Golf Bag Competition. Surprisingly, all 23 players also returned soaked and confused by the results. For somehow, with a score of 41 points, and knocking down the Ribena vapors like a man possessed , was non other than our illustrious Club Captain.... yes, he of the angry bird head gear at the start of the round, Tony 'Cart King' Bryant. Well played Bulmers... But fear not trendsetters, anyone within a few points has a great chance to watch Bulmers slide down the leaderboard quicker than a mango/ lime concoction in his peace pipe !!!
Grade winners this week were Klaus ' I love the rain, don't know what you blokes are on about' Ebdrup in A Grade with 38 points. B grade goes to Steve ' Ass Pincher' Mckenna with 40 points, and Paul 'I do my best work after 12' Hughes claims C Grade with his round of 40 points.
Plate this week go to Steve 'More ACME than TNT' Belcher with 38 points in A Grade. Greg ' Playing with Bulmers cost me my round' Mathews takes the plate for B Grade with a not so fun 21 points. In C Grade, Super 'But I shot 44 on Thursday' Mann wins it for his score of 24 points.
The birdie hole also went off this week, with Paul 'You blokes are more fun than Buzz, but why is every shot I hit for a jug ? ' Hughes sinking a 4 / 4 on the 5th. Well done Paul, not a bad win mate. feel free to buy your playing group this week a port before the game.....
Team players this week were DC ' Just remember who won Ashbourne, Robbo' 5, Rob ' Who cares about that, just remember my 49 last week !!' Gardener and 'Glad it was my only jug for the day' Robbo all fell short of the ladies on the 4th, and Matty 'Never mind the ladies, didn't even make the public markers' Loan had to cough up some cash on the 10th.
So, this week sees the second and final round to claim the champs bag, and also the last chance this year to post a lowest off the stick score for the year, as the final two rounds of the 380 cup are reserved for matchplay semi's and the final of Club Championships, and then we start the Summer Cup.
See Youn Boys On Saturday
Cheers

With a somber mood around the Club after the weeks sad news, it was great to see Jarrod make it out on Saturday and make it through the day. Appreciated by all, you did well mate to make it through.
With a chilly start to the morning, 21 players made it out for the final monthly medal of the season, sponsored by Mike and Cathy Smith. But it didn't take long for it to heat up on the course, as Robbie 'Home Game Specialist' ripped the course a new one, to win the day with a nett 57. To go with that, Rob also shot 49 points and set a new C Grade lowest off the stick 86 !!! Poor ol' Super, shoots 87 off the stick last week, and gets run down a week later... Well played Rob, the result made even better by the fact that it was our first week after preferred lies changed to fairway only...and included an 8 scrub on the card. C Graders may find themselves under closer security of drug screeners if these scores keep up!!!
Grade winners this week were 'Stout Monkey' Whitey in A Grade with a nett 70, Pete 'I Should be in A Grade' Rowe takes B Grade with a nett 65, and Phil 'Just warming up' Edwards takes out C Grade with a nett 71.
Plate winners were Matty ' I don't wanna be in A Grade anymore' Loan with a nett 80. Ken 'Countback king' takes it for B Grade, nudging out Robbo with a nett 82. Billy 'Couldn't be bothered' Bollard wins the plate for C Grade after a DQ.
Quite a few team players this week, with 'I'm gonna need a second job soon' Bulmers continuing his round buying, this week getting it out of the way early with a 4 putt on the 1st. Kymbo had to cough up as well, after 4 putting the 2nd. Robbie 'Happy Trails' Dale failed to make the ladies, not once, but twice on the 4th. But the unluckiest of them all, was 'Mr Ashbourne' DC-5, who fell short of the ladies on the 4th after hitting a duck.... but quite rightly his playing group made him cough up, despite the complaints from Clarkey that it wasn't fair!!!
And Sunday saw the return of Ashbourne, after a years absence due to low numbers. And I think it's fair to say, judging by the turnout on Sunday, it's back for a few more years. With over 40 people turning up for a great day of food, fun and a little bit of golf, it was great to see all the families mixing together and sharing a laugh. DC - 5 won the day, and I can't remember who won the NAGA..... But I did wake up Monday with an extra water bottle !!!!
Another 2 week comp starts this week, with Mike Taylor offering up another golf bag.
See you boys out there
Cheers

With another cracking day, two comps on the go, and the bag and booze raffle sold out... It was a busy Saturday this week for the 23 players that fronted up for the Club Champ qualifiers and the Kempie driver part II. Winning the day, was Frankie ' Can I come out of hiding in B Grade yet' Balter. The young burglar won the day with a nett 63 points. Well played Frankie, but you can go back to the big kids yard now you've made the matchplay semis in B Grade....
The overall winner, playing the most consistent over two rounds, was Matty ' Morning Mr Kimble' Loan. Matty takes away the Dave Kemp Driver, as soon as he's searched his shed and found one that looks like new !!!
Semi final matchplays have also been decided, with all A Graders that made it out on Saturday, after Klaus 'Paving is over rated ' Ebdrup pulled up lame after some works around the house on Friday. So it's Tommy 'Lead foot' Dougan v Steve 'TNT...Dynamite' Belcher, and Bulmers takes on Ronnie ' Hope Fi gives me the day off' Jaekel. In B Grade, Frankie takes on Jarrod 'The Rowland that can play matchplay' Rowland, and Matty takes on Pete 'Hi Viz' Rowie. In C Grade, it's Phil 'Wish I was playing Big Kev' Edwards v Paul 'Can I still play early?' Hughes and Dave 'Look at me go' Clark takes on the beast ....Billy B. Good luck to all those that made it through. Unfortunately for Super, he qualified but cannot be available for the last two weeks of November, and ruled himself out. Bad luck Manny, but right calling it early.
Grade winners this week were Ronnie J in A Grade with a nett 69, Joffa ' Suck on that Robbo' Gould steals B Grade with a nett 64, and Clarkie takes out C Grade with a nett 68.
The bag and booze raffle was drawn on Saturday, with Big Jase ' You only need to buy one ticket if it's the winning one !!!' Whitey, taking the glory. Well done mate. Might need to buy a new buggy just to carry it mate.
Team players this week were DC -5 for a 4 putt on the 17th, new member Lionel reconsiders joining after having to shout a round for 4 putting the 13th. Champ backed up again this week, this time for not making the Ladies on the 4th.
Mitsi shot of the day goes to Nan ' Just call me Rocka will ya' Rowland , for his drive on the first that thundered into the caravan park... The sound of it hitting was almost as loud as the cheers coming from the first tee... And we were on the first green !!!
Willunga saw the 2014 away game season come to an end on Sunday, with Chris K, Robbie D, Whitey and Robbo playing in the championship grouping. And finally, after calling it for 5 years, Robbo can now trade in all his NAGA'S and claim glory as the away game specialist !!! Coming second on the day was enough to get me over the line. Cheers boys, for the round.
Have a good week boys
Cheers

Another great day, 28 players, and two stroke competitions run at the same time .... Talk about confusion on the 19th as to who is leading what. Starting with the two week Kempie sponsored Driver Comp, Matty 'Look at me go' Loan had a great day out, coming in with 79 off the stick. Taking handicaps into account, Matty won the first round on a countback from Robbie 'You're shitting me aren't ya' Dale with a nett 61 points. Bad luck Rob, gotta be hard to swallow a second place with 45 points !!! Congrats Matty, would have been a great round to witness.
Grade winners this week, remembering that this includes handicap deductions for the driver, were Tony 'My shout' Bryant in A Grade with a nett 65. Rob 'Still spewing...how can you get done with 45 !!!' Dale takes B Grade with his nett 61. Dave ' I don't even use my driver' Clarkey wins C Grade with a nett 66.
As for Club Championship placings, the current top four in each grade are as follows...
A Grade ; Tommy D, Bulmers, Klaus and Belch... Ronnie J is only one stroke off the pace'
B Grade ; Matty, Rowie, Burglar Balter, with R D and Jarrod tied for fourth, but a few more still in contention.
C Grade ; DC - 5, Billy , Phil and Big Kev... with only a few strokes separating the rest....
So, game on this week boys !!!
Two team players this week, with Mike ' Just glad I didn't go backwards ' Taylor falling short of the ladies on the first, with the cheers being heard from second tee block. And Bulmers goes back to back in shouting the boys, sending the ladies tee marker flying off the tee block on the 11th, and sending his ball onto the 14th.... still short of the ladies!!!
With a new birdie hole starting last weekend, Robbo goes back to back in claiming the cash... and for the second week in a row, I've had to share the spoils. This week, it was Kymbo stealing his share of the cash out my hands!!! Needless to say, with only a small pot up for grabs, not much chance that it will leave the first tee block on Saturday!!!!
Final away game is on this Sunday at Willunga... Don't forget we have 8 carts booked, and need to confirm takers before Sunday.
Good luck to everyone on Saturday, for those in contention for the Driver, and those hoping to make match plays. Looks like another warm one, so could understand if a few of you B Graders want to stay away !!!!
Cheers Boys

With a long weekend and fantastic weather, it wasn't surprising that only 19 players made it out for the October Monthly Medal, sponsored by Mike and Cathy Smith. Coming out on top after a countback from Paul 'Calculator' Hughes, with a nett 64,was none other than the little black headed roofing nail, Graham 'Up,up and away' Mann. Super finally gets to replace his medal he gave away in Coomie a few years ago on a Mildura trip. Well done Super.
Grade winners this week were Tommy ' I'll just play the whole 18 early' Dougan in A Grade with a nett 71. 'There's only 1 month left' Kymbo takes B Grade with a nett 67, and Paul 'What's my score again ? ' Hughes takes C Grade with his nett 64.
Plate winners were Chris 'Special' Kay in A Grade with a DQ. The B Grade plate went to Pete 'Bugger this' Rowe for another DQ on the 4th, taking the plate from Stevie 'Shoulda left with Pete' McK, who bailed out on the 15th. The C Grade plate goes to Billy 'Glad Hunny is back next week' Bollard with a nett 83.
The birdie hole went off on the weekend, with 'Only putt I made all day' Robbo, and Andy 'I'll take half of that, thanks Robbo' Harding both having a good hole on the 17th, and sharing over $150....
Team player this week was Tony 'Fruit Tingles' Bryant, who 4 putted the 8th green, then took off for a round of Coke Zeros.... Hot tip Captain, if there is a cart in your group, make use of it and save yourself the run !!! That way you could just sit back taking in watermelon, peachy peach and grape on your peace pipe.
Robbo managed to somehow be 7 off the tee on the 14th, and still managed to finish with a 6... Luckily, my first ball was found, and just got to be my own one man ambrose team for a hole !!!
Just a few reminders boys, Tee Masters are to be in the last group, and any early groups are to only play the back holes and pass through the rest of the members.... That's why we are a social club boys, gives everyone a chance to at least have a quick chat and find out birdie hole/ bingo winners.
Next two weeks are Club Championship Qualifying stroke rounds boys... Good luck to everyone, except the B Graders !!!
Cheers Boys

With an absolutely cracking day, and tee times back to normal, it was surprising to see only 16 blokes tee up on Saturday. Maybe they also realised that they didn't stand a chance in week 2 for the Bridgestone Golf Bag. And fair enough too, with Tommy 'Need a back rub' Dougan matching week ones score of 41 points, to not only win the day, but also claim the bag. Good stuff Tommy, only the real good players can win the Bridgestone bag. With a total of 82 points, Buzz held of Paul 'Nearly' Hughes and Frankie 'Is that a choke ?' Balter, both finishing with a two week total of 78 points. Bad luck boys...
Grade winners this week were Captain Bulmers in A Grade with 36 points, 'Kart man' Kymbo stays vertical long enough to beat Frankie in a countback for B Grade with 35 points. Paul 'I wanted the bag' Hughes wins C Grade with another good round of 38 points.
Plate winners this week go to Jarrod 'Peace keeper' Rowland in A Grade with 28 points, Dave 'Wish I could've worked instead' Kempie takes it for B Grade with 26 points, and poor ol' Super takes another nail with 26 points to claim it in C Grade.
A few team players this week, with Stevie ' I'm glad I don't play with drinkers!!' McKenna going above and beyond for his group, sending the ladies tee blokes flying forward on the 10th, with his ball fling back past them on the tee. Mrs Mac then produced a 4 putt on the 12th...what makes it harder was that the first was for a birdie !!! Klaus 'Don't tell Robbo' also had to open the wallet after 4 putts on the 5th. And not to bet left out Paul 'Sarah' O'Connor fell short of the ladies on the 4th.
And it's happening too often too be classed as ass... as Kymbo, the Chip In King , does it again. Unfortunately for the wanna be Go Cart Champ, it was on the 11th, and not the birdie hole 9th. Judging by the feedback after the game, a few blokes had a look at taking the birdie cash, but no-one managed to claim it.
Good to hear a few boys were in good spirits on Saturday, with not one, but two whinges from players from outside the Club wanting to carry on about noise on a public course... Sorry pal, move along or go elsewhere ya dickhead !!! Luckily, it didn't explode on the day thanks to some calmer heads, but I don't think it will be forgotten.
With the AFL GF on this week, it is a drawn ambrose event to allow everyone to get home in time. So please get your names down on the tee sheet to allow for a quick start on Saturday.
Chhers Boys
