With 23 players turning out for the first week of the Bridgestone Golf Bag, it was great to see the weather matched some of the golf played on the day. With 'Mr Showbags' Dougan posting an early round score of 41 Stableford points, the bar was set. And a few blokes had a decent crack at it, with The Burglar Balter finally taking off the handbrake and taking week 1 with a score of 43 points. Well done Frank, another week like that and you'll be back in A Grade for Club Championships, where you belong !!! There is still a few boys in the mix for the bag, depending on next weeks results.
Grade winners this week were Tommy 'Sideshow' Dougan, who managed to play his round and take his kids to the show before some of us even teed off last week, wins A Grade with 41 points. As a matter of fact, all grade winners were in the early groups this week, with Stevie McK winning B Grade taking B Grade with 39 points, and Paul 'My Shout For Cokes' Hughes won C Grade with 40 points.
Plate winners this week were Big Jase ' I wanna go back to B Grade' Whitey, putting in a poor performance in front of his bro', coming in with 27 points to take the A Grade plate. 'Another 6 pack, Nando' Robbo managed to do very little right ,taking the B Grade plate with 27 points, and 'Kryptonite' Manny takes it for C Grade with 20 points.
Only the one team player reported this week, with Paul 'Where's Jawwods Coke' Hughes falling short of the ladies on the third.
The Par 16, Park 17 curse is really starting to miss with Billy 'Spunk For Hair Gel' Bollards mind. After watching DC 5 par the 16th, he was disappointed when his drive on the 17th went down the middle. Remembering that the curse is still in play and gets passed on through the group, young Bill was ready to call bullshit on my theory as he safely teed off last in the group. And then DC 5 put his second shot straight into the park, and Billy's head went spinning....Bloody Robbo Voodoo!!!
And that's it... It is what it is boys!!! With no-one else offering up any news from the course, there is no more news this week.
Important update re: tee times for this week.... After two failed attempts, Mike has changed his mind on the new tee times. As of this week, our new tee times are from 9AM !!! For the first time this month, the tee masters will get away before 11 !!! Any early groups are reminded that they are to only play the back 9 holes ( or whichever hole you guys USED to start from) as from Saturday.
See you boys on Saturday
Cheers

Another great turnout of 25 players for Saturdays Monthly medal, sponsored by Mike and Cathy Smith. And winning his second stroke round in as many weeks, Steve 'On Cue' Belcher takes the prize with a nett score of 63.Besides grabbing the attention of the handicapper, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get a surprise visit from ASADA on Saturday asking him for a sample. Well played Belch, now let someone else have a go already !!
Grade winners this week are Tommy 'Wonder Boy' Dougan in A Grade with a nett 66, Matty '$110 putts scare me' Loan wins B Grade with a nett 65, and Clarkey takes out C Grade with a nett 72.
Plate winners this week are Jarrod 'Sandy' Rowland in A Grade with a nett 75, Stevie McK takes B Grade with a DSQ, and Robbie 'Back to Belair Form' Gardner takes C Grade with a nett 81.
Team player this week was Greg 'Meow' Mathews for failing to reach the ladies on the third.
Tony 'The 1 Man Ambrose Team' Bryant spent yet another stroke round playing his own game of 4 ball, better ball. Hitting so many provisional shots out there, Captain Bulmers was only able to drive his tram between North and South Tce to avoid corners, so sore were his shoulders from swinging like a madman!!!
Poor Matty Loan had a great look at the birdie money this week, but after missing his birdie putt, he tried to numb the pain by having another 2 putts.... No team play for the 4th putt though.
Jarrod will be spending his down time this week searching for a new sand wedge, after a little incident on Saturday. Obviously not happy with his shot on the 5th, Nan cracked it, and then threw his wedge into the ground, only for it to snap!! Anger management classes obviously not working mate !!
And due to the shambles of the attempted scrambled tee times on Saturday, having arrived early as tee master on Saturday, and then teeing off last sometime on Sunday, maybe a few more Mitsi waters may have been consumed than usual. Being pissed and broke before you even make the 1st tee is never a good thing, but marinading yourself in a tawny / whiskey blend doesn't fill you with confidence either.
See you boys on Saturday
Cheers

With a cracking 25 degrees forecast for last Saturday, it was good to see 22 members rock up as we remembered those Mitsi Boys that although no longer with us, will never be forgotten. As a minutes silence was held, thoughts were with those blokes that helped shape the club, including but not only the likes of Bell, Bryant, Pike, Turner, Lewis, Atkins, Jackson, Walton, Wadey, Trembath and Singh.R.I.P boys...
This weeks winner, with a new game plan, was Steve 'Maybe I should turn up on time every week' Belcher. Steve not only made it before the tee talk, but even got in some practice before his winning nett 66 round... Maybe there's something to that Steve, well played mate.
Coming in equal with Belch, Ronnie ' I play better with the wife' Jaekel, also shot a nett 66 to win A Grade. The 'Away gamer choker #2 ' Robbo wins B Grade, beating the 'Victa Bandit' Balter on countback in B Grade with a nett 71. Super Mann maintains his run of form in C Grade, winning on countback from Hughsie with a nett 73.
Plate winners this week were Jase 'Away game choker #1' Whitey, who not only takes the plate for A Grade with a nett 79, but also had to suffer the indignity of going arse over apex on the 18th and tipping his clubs out of his bag , and onto the back of his head as he bit the dirt. 'Not my fault' Joffa claims the B Grade plate with a nett 80. Graham 'I should DQ on the first' Hunt takes it ffor C Grade after losing a ball on the 14th, and not wanting to go back and re-hit. From the 15th, Hunny went par, par, par and then birdied the last....shame it was a stroke round Hunny!!!
Not many thirsty groups out there on Saturday, going by the number of team players this week... For not making the ladies, Robbo on the 2nd, DC- 5 on the 3rd and Joff on the 4th. For four putting, or more, were Ronnie on the 15th, Fiona on the 12th AND 16th, and Frankie ' The Grass Cutter' Balter on the 17th. Frankie left his group upset, after saying he couldn't buy them a beer 'cos he had to race home and mow the lawn!!! The boys weren't happy...and nor should they be!!!
Mitsi shot of the day this week goes to Bulmers for his second shot into the green on the 8th, that was racing around the green and about to run down the bank..... until it hit the 6 pack that Robbo had ordered to cover his tee shot on the 2nd. Even though he missed the birdie putt, he still managed a par.
Great turnout on Sunday for the Away game at The Vines, with 23 players turning out to play. With a host of high scores, Robbie G once again found his away form to claim glory. Good to see everyone in a great mood and hanging around for the last groups, even if they didn't do that well. A few blokes still in contention going into the final game at Willunga, should make it interesting this year....
Monthly medal this week boys, and just a reminder that Mikes new tee times start this week, so Belair will have groups playing off the 9th tee at 6.30am... Could be interesting !!
See ya's on Saturday
Cheers

With the threat of a Par round hanging around the Club on Saturday, suddenly alot of blokes must have found something better to do with their morning.Hell, even this weeks sponsor, Big Kev, made sure he was on the other side planet playing with Vikings and hanging out in some seedy Amsterdam Cafes !!!
With only 16 players making it out, the Comp was quickly changed to Stableford, with no objections from anyone. And this weeks winner, surviving a 4 way countback, is Paul 'Kenneth drags me down' Hughes with a round of 36 points. Well done Hughsie, good game.
Grade winners this week, all with 36 points as well, were Steve 'On time' Belcher in A Grade, Frankie ' Get back to A Grade' Balter burgles B Grade first week back, and Super Mann cracks it for a win in C Grade.
Plates this week go to Jarrod ' Shoulda gone with the Ol' Man to Amsterdam' Rowland in A Grade with 32 points. Robbo climbed out of his deathbed to put in a pathetic round of 25 points to take it for B Grade, and Mike ' Nice lag ' Hunt refuses to let anyone else have a turn with the C Grade plate, claiming another one with 26 points.
The only team player this week was Jarrod ' Rollers ' Rowland for his drive on the 6th, that slammed into the Joe public markers and ended up 60m behind the blue markers... Another quick run down from the 8th for a 6 pack, and everyone was happy again.
As if his day wasn't bad enough, Nan also had to endure the round with Hunny constantly in his ear everytime that he out drove him. 4 times in one round, the owner of the the chrome plated C Grade L plate drove for show and got in his ear... No wonder Rocka took off straight after the game. Once again though, it only goes to prove the theory that good drives are over rated, cos' it sure didn't help his score!!!
Short and sweet this week, thanks mainly to the editor being under the influence of some serious medication on Saturday...
Don't forget the double header this weekend, with the away game at The Vines on Sunday.
Will see you boys out there
Cheers

With a great day forecast and the course drying out nicely, it was great to see 26 players turn up on Saturday for the Chris Kay sponsored 380 Memorial Trophy, including 11 A Graders.
This weeks winner, gaining a parental leave pass on week 2 since the arrival of Kenzie, was Matty 'Daddy Day Care' Loan with a great round of 42 points. Well played Matty!
Grade winners this week were Klaus 'Watch the left hook' Ebdrup in A Grade with 38 points . Winning B Grade after a masterclass of chipping in that included one for par and one for birdie, was Kymbo also with 38 points. Andy 'The Hitman' Harding takes C Grade with 35 points.
Plate winners this week were Ronnie 'How'd you get a day pass so early Matty?' Jaekel with 24 points, but a great NTP in the round, for A Grade. B Grade Plate goes to Ken 'Lost my Mojo' Ponting with 21 points and C Grade goes to Graham 'I love C Grade' Hunt with 22 points.
Team players this week were Super on the 14th with a 4 putt and Nan falls short of the ladies on the 3rd.
With the flying instructor, Captain Paul, still away, Steve 'Lift off' Belcher has put his name down for lessons on his return, after sending his second shot out of bounds on the 14th. This was followed by a ball into the trees... end result, golf club hurled. The same feeling was felt by Hunny, who managed to hit Jo Publics golf bag on the 5th. No idea why they stopped in the middle of the fairway, although with Hunny hitting, it was probably where they felt safest!!
And if anyone knows a good translator, we may need to book him for Frankie's playing group, after he let fly with some choice words in 3 possible different languages, one per shot as he struggled on the 8th.
Cheers Boys, I will catch you guys in a couple of weeks, when I get back from cruising the Pacific.
For those in the Powerball Syndicate, the tickets were purchased, so if you don't see me in two weeks... we've won!!
See ya,
Robbo |

With a cold start to the morning, the day turned out to be a cracker, with the sun out for most of the day on Saturday. Unfortunately, for most of the the 16 players that turned up, that was about the only good thing about the day. But not Buzz, this Months winner of the Mike Smith Monthly Medal. Tommy ' I Love Ducks ' Dougan romped it in, winning the day with a nett 64... 3 clear of his nearest rival. Good stuff Tommy, see you in the play - offs.
Grade winners this week are Pete ' Back to my best ' Rowe in A Grade with a nett 74. B Grade goes to the man with the golden chipper, Big Jase ' Bloody Voodoo ' Whitey with a nett 68. Well, he started with a golden chipper, but after the group ripped in on the 5th green about how good it was, and how his chipping was worthy of the gold, Whitney then somehow manage to sheer the club head off the shaft on the 6th. DC - 5 continues his run of form, winning C Grade with a nett 67.
The L Plates this week go to Frankie ' Handbrake ' Balter with a nett 79. Rob ' Barista ' Dale gets his just desserts for serving up coffees on the 1st hole with a nett 82, on a countback from Stevie ' Hipflask ' McKenna. Graham ' Back where I belong ' Hunt celebrated his return to C Grade by shooting a nett 89, winning the plate and making sure he'll stay there for another week.
Congrats to ' Philthy ' Phil Edwards on winning the birdie hole on the 5th.
Team players this week were Hunny for an airy on the 15th and Champ for a 4 putt on the 17th. Robbo made sure his playing group were well hydrated this week, grabbing a 6 pack on the 8th to clear my debts for falling short of the ladies on the 3rd and the 4th hole... When are we getting a girls group ?,as this is getting out of control !!!
After draining the Mitsi Water barrel early on Saturday morning, the usual suspects should have known that the day wasn't going to end well... A quick recap of what happens when you go up the 1st with a take away coffee - Kymbo shoots 10 on the 1st hole, Robbo goes one better and shoots 11 on the 2nd, then Jugs the 3rd and the 4th, and Daley wins the L Plate!!!! NEVER AGAIN will that be happening !!!! Well, the coffee bit won't.... No promises on the golf but.
On a serious note, great shot by the Human Bollard on the 11th, chipping in for par on the 11th from 60 metres.
On a more serious note, Congrats to Matty Loan and Jess on the arrival of the newest member to the family, with the arrival of Miss Kenzie Loan.
Catch you blokes on Saturday
Cheers

Last Saturday saw 18 players take on the course for the Frontline Stableford Comp, and it was like deja - vu all over again this week, with Dave ' Bill Clinton's Bestie ' Kemp taking the spoils. The Energiser obviously loves the mud, taking the day with 40 points. Just hope Bill didn't offer to share a cigar with you to celebrate the victory Kempie!!!
Grade winners this week were Tommy ' Got me a new bag ' Dougan in A Grade with 37 points. ' Better check that result again ' Robbo wins B Grade with 35 points, and the Birthday Boy Dave ' Fiddy Two ' Clarkie takes the C Grade win with 34 points, on countback from ' Philthy ' Phil Edwards.
This weeks plate winners were Pete ' How many is that since Mildura ? ' Rowe in A Grade with 29 points. Hunny managed to stay vertical for the round, but achieved little else on the day, claiming the B Grade plate with 21 points. Billy ' Voodoo ' Bollard takes the C Grade plate for not buying Robbo a port with his bingo win, and will be kept under Robbo's curse for a while longer. Well, he did also only shoot 23 points.
Just a quick 380 Cup update.... Unless your name is Frankie, good luck !! At the half way point of the season, the Burgular is 40 points clear of his nearest rival.
Only one team player this week, and what a beauty it was to watch from the 9th green. Rob ' Look Out ' Gardner creamed his drive on the 10th... straight into the public markers, and ended up 10m behind him. Before his ball had even stopped, the calls of " JUG " could be heard, and not only from those in his group, but anyone that witnessed it!!!
Two nominations for the Mitsi shot of the day this week. Runner up goes to the wanna be new member Paul ' No Magic ' Johnson for his chip shot on the 11th. With a sideways chip that Kempie would be proud of, Paul added some variety by landing on his putter that he had safely placed out of the way, on the edge of the green. But the winner this week is Rob ' Cook me up some bacon and some beans ' Dale for his morning campers drive on the 1st !! Good to see you still have it Daley.
August Monthly Medal up for grabs this week boys,
See you out there

With the rain staying away, 19 players rocked up on Saturday to play in the mud for this weeks comp. With the comp changed at the last minute to Stableford from stroke due to the conditions. the winner this week of the Joffa trophy was Dave 'Shank Free' Kempie. Dravid won the day with 37 points.
Grade winners this week were Steve 'Still waiting' Belcher in A Grade with 35 points. Jase "Survived a Robbo round' Whitey takes B Grade with 36 points and Bernie 'B grade can't be too far away' Mann again wins C Grade with 32 points.
Plate winners this week were Pete 'Don't ask' Rowie for A Grade with 22 points. Robbo 'Away game specialist' takes it for B Grade with 25 points and Billy 'Bubbler' Bollard rounds out his day from hell with C Grades plate with 22 points.
Team players this week were 'Sarah' O'Connor for his great drive on the 1st that bounced over the cart path, over the sand and into the bushes, short of the ladies. Once again, yours truly provided the first round for not making the ladies on the 3rd. But King Billy had to dig the deepest on the weekend, after falling short of the ladies on the 3rd, and then backed it up with a 1, 2, 3, 4... 5 putt on the 18th!! All of the this after being threatened with eviction from the course for getting the cart bagged on the 1st fairway!! Not a quick learner is the grounded pilot Bollard, cos he bogged again on 17.
Mitsi shot of the day goes to Billy again, for his attempt at helicoptering his putter on the 18th, up into a gumtree, that took a long time to come down. Best leave it to the professionals Billy and wait til Paul McK gets back so you can get some lessons.
Kymbo drained a 15ft putt on the 11th to claim Birdie cash, somewhere around the $90 mark, and it never looked like missing.
Another great day on Sunday with Mount Compass in great condition with no wind. Although the numbers for the away games are dwindling, those that make the effort are well rewarded with a great day out on the great courses. Get your names down for the Vines on August 31.
See you boys on Saturday.
Cheers,

Under clear skies, we had 18 players turn up on Saturday hoping to take the prize from this weeks sponsor, King Billy Bollard. But then the weather turned and so did the scoring for most of us. But not so for this weeks winner, Tony 'Double Barrel' Bryant, who claims the win with 39 points. Bulmers deserved the win just for putting up with the human Bollard all round.
Grade winners were D Williams in A Grade with 38 points. Dravid Kemp obviously kept the shanks away, claiming B Grade with 37 points. Bernie Mann, despite his runaway buggy upturning and losing all his shit on the 12th, takes C Grade with 37 points.
Plate winners were Pete 'HGC' Rowie with 27 points. Stevie 'Mrs' McK takes it for B Grade on countback from Hunny. Phil 'Not laughing' Edwards claims another one for C Grade with 22 points.
The only team player this week was Matty 'My shout' Loan, and what a good job he did. Up for 2 rounds after falling short of the ladies on the 18th...twice!!
Billy B had Bulmers in a state, after trying to helicopter his putter on the 6th. Only problem was, he still had another putt for a point. So while Billy went to retrieve it, Bulmers stared down a 2 foot putt. By the time Billy got back and tapped in for a point, Captain Jacks had over read his putt... 2 putt scrub for Bulmers from 2 feet had him looking for a shotgun to put Billy down.
Mitsi shot of the day goes to Jarrod 'Book me in' Rowland for greeting the campers on the 1st.
Welcome back Buzz, playing his first round since the anniversary. Everyone had a story to share to remind him of the night. Luckily for us, the Mad Hatters Ball on June 20, 2015, will not involve the Buzz outfit, as it has been retired from further functions.
See you Saturday,

With 18 players willing to take on the wind and rain in a stroke round, it was never going to be easy out there on Saturday. But the last thing you'd want is to be left waiting on tee blocks, sometimes up to 10 minutes , while it is pouring down waiting on Belair. Unfortunately for some of our boys, enough was enough as they walked off in a group from the 14th... Not happy Jan!!
But, back to the golf...
This weeks winner was Mick 'Pig Rooter and Outback Legend' Taylor with a net 68. The Champ had done enough to hold off a late charge from Jarrod 'Rockin' ' Rowland and 'Play from the Ladies' Robbo, who both finished with a net 69 in the final group. Well played Mike, just a shame your cart didn't get bogged out there on the course.
Grade winners this week were 'The Loin Fuit' Rowland in A Grade with his 69, 'Team Player' Robbo takes B Grade with his 69. Super 'Bernie' Mann somehow claims C Grade with a net 76, even though he shot a 12 on the 15th!!
A and B L Plates get shared this week following the walkabout rainmen calling on a group DSQ. So fight amongst yourselves Rowie, Klaus, Kempie and Steve. C Grade plate goes to Rob 'Should've gone to Clare with Kymbo' Gardner with a net 88 ( 116 off the stick/ 19 stableford ponts )
Team players this week were Robbo on the 3rd for his drive that failed to get past the ladies. Matty 'Good drives are over rated ' Loan 4 putted the 10th after landing on from the tee. But poor old Whitneyhad a day he would rather forget. After a pretty good start, Whitey was looking the goods, and so Nan and I decided to offer up the encouragement to keep him going.... "Never seen you hit so straight" "you're on fire mate' and "The medal is yours" were bandied about.... And then his form turned!!! On the 14th green,he putted five feet past the hole.."Could be 4 in this one Whitey". Next putt goes past to end up within 1 - 2 feet...and the lip slurping starts and the call goes out "Don't leave it short mate".... and he did. As he tapped in the 4th putt, all that he said was "Never playing with you again Robbo, you can go and get fu#ked... " . To round out his day, Big J then produced the mother of all airswings on the 15th.
Catch you blokes on Saturday
Hopefully we'll get a game in with the predicted weather
Cheers
