Is there no stopping to Bob Peach. Bob has won again. Another Trophy to the cabinet Bob. Bob will have to hire out a big Mac Truck to get his trophies home this year. Dave Kemp the leader from the week before on 45 Stableford Points, needed a couple of extra points to clinch the deal for the Mitsubishi Trophy but fell short to Bob by two strokes in winning the two week competition.
Course conditions are on the improve, the water is subsiding, and it is almost possible to walk without sinking three inches into the ground now.
Scores were in the low to high thirties with the exception of Bob the only person in the fourties. Graham Hunt had a shocker. I mistakenly put down his handicap of 21 as his score. Graham aproached me and corrected me and said that the score was to high and told me that he had 15,. Graham you would have still finished last in B Grade.
The Club would like to welcome Jason White. Jason is looking to join a club and we would welcome Jason if he chooses to join our club.
It was good to see Ron Jaekel out again and I think we may even see Ron's better half out in Fee this week in the Ambrose. Sometimes when you play a competition round with someone, the two players end up playing an unofficial matchplay. In this case Ron was playing Tom Dougan. On this day Ron got the better of Tom, I think it was on the 16th when Ron sank this four and a half kilometre putt to really quash any unoficial matchplay come-back from Tom.
Winner of A Grade was the ol Timer Frankie Balter with 37 Stableford Points. Winner of B Grade was Dave Kemp with 37 Stableford Points and Winner of C Grade with 39 Stableford Points was Paul Mckenna.
Nearest the Pins are Tom Dougan on 2 and Bob Peach on 13.
L Plates go to Tom Dougan in A Grade on a count-back from Klaus Ebdrup, both on 32 points, Graham Hunt on 15 Points in B Grade and in C Grade Colin Shaw on 10 Points.

If I have to say anything about these Away Games, it is this, "What a fantastic success they have been". You may have a few bad shots, but even in a bad round there will be a couple of good ones as well. I think it is good just to get away from the mud at Belair and play a different course. Anyway back to the Golf.
There is something to be said about Port, Golf and Kym Tolius. Put them together and you have a formular for succsess. Kym won the day on a count-back from Mike Taylor and Mark Squire on 40 Stableford Points. Scores ranged from 40 Stabelford Points down to the NAGA Award , young Riley Marshall on 20 Points. Dave Kemp on 21 had a sigh of relief when Riley walked through the door and announced his score. From the club Captain to young Riley , don't worry to much Riley, in a couple of years you wont be able to remember when you would've had your last NAGA. I think Dave would not have minded the port though.
All in all a great day was had by all. I would like to thank Kym Tolius for organising the day and to everybody who participated to make the day a succsess.
Club Captain. |

Dave Kemp shot a blistering 45 Stableford Points to take the lead of the Mitsubishi Trophy by one over Klaus Ebdrup. Shooting a 39 off the stick on the front nine, and a 41 off the back nine to have 80 for the day. Klaus had a great day as well, hitting two 40's to have an 80 off the stick also, only the handicap difference between winning and loosing.
What a difference a day makes,. On Sunday Klaus couldn't hit the side of a barn twenty foot wide standing three feet in front of it and judging from Dave's score he couldn't either.
Peter Rowe had a cracking day on Saturday, finishing in third place with 42 points. The winner of the Mitsubishi Trophy will almost come from the group of four in the fourties unless someone below shoots a miraculous round this Saturday. Stranger things have happened.
Winner of A Grade is Frankie Balter with 36 Stableford Points,, B Grade is Klaus Ebdrup with 44 Stableford Points and C Grade is Steeve Teraki with 37 Stableford Points.
Nearest the Pins go to Bob Peach on 7 and Mat Loan on 10.
The L Plates, the most illustrious award in the club go to this week in A Grade, Steve Belcher, B Grade, Mike Taylor and iin C Grade Steve Laird.

It was between 35 and 42 millimetres of water, and that was on Friday night alone. If it was bad under foot the Saturday week ago it was unbearable last Saturday. Therefore a No Competition was declared.
The Monthly Medal for September will be announced to be played at a later date.

Who is Jim Pike? All the older members of the club know Jimmy Pike. Jimmy was what the Golf club is all about. A past Club Captain President and Committee man. A laughable rouge you might say, and a very well respected member in the Club when Jim was alive. If Jim was alive today, I'm sure all the newer members today would have warmed to the humour and antics of Jimmy. To put it plainly if you were playing in a footy side with Jim he would be the best team man in your side. To have a Trophy named after Jim is only appropriate to have a Trophy in Jim's honour.
Rest in Peace Jim.
Zac Kingston shot 41 Stableford Points to claim the Jim Pike Memorial Trophy last Saturday to win from his nearest rivals Dave Kemp and Craig Lightfoot , both on 39 Stableford Points.
Conditions were tough under-foot, with the golf course experiencing huge down pours of rain onto an already soaked Golf Course.
This rain resulted in having to Tee the ball up to keep from damaging the course.
Scores were relatively in the high 30's with a few straglers in the low 30's.
Klaus Ebdrup with 37 Stableford Points won A Grade, Dave Kemp with 39 Stableford Points won B Grade and Paul Mckenna with 37 Stableford Points won C Grade.
Nearest the Pins were won by Marcus Heveldt on the 2nd and the 10th. Well done Marcus!.
The L Plates go to Frankie Balter in A Grade, Peter Rowe in Bgrade and Riley Marshall in C Grade. |

Bob Peach, the man that plays Six Days a Week, and in Career best form wins the Captains Trophy for 2010 with a score of Plus 5.
In tough conditions Bob shot the lights out with four pars and a birdie on the front nine, and four pars and a birdie on the back nine. That is good golf on a dry day.
Lets us take a minute for the runner up Tom Dougan on Plus 4. Tom came in at four up, you say "oh well you got done by one, better luck next time." Tom shot a 72 off the stick and got done by one, not long ago Tom shot 67 off the stick and still got done by one. There is only one answer Tom, and that is to shoot a 71 next time Tom.
Zac Kingston and Kym tolius were the only two others to come in in the pluses.(Zac Plus 2 and Kym Plus 1). The rest of us were just a bunch of scrubbers. I would like to thank a few choice players though, and they are Riley Marshall, Mike Taylor, Darren Robertson and Myself all of us are starting the -5 down Club. Anybody above us can't join, your not bad enough yet!
Winner of A Grade was Tom Dougan, B Grade was Kym Tolius and C Grade Was Marcus Heveldt. It is good to see a newer member Marcus in the winners circle.
Nearest the Pins go to Tony Bryant on the 7th and Bob Peach on the 13th.
The L Plates go to El Capitarno Me, in A Grade (Damn L Plate) Mr. Mike Taylor in B Grade and Darren Robertson in C Grade. Well done Lads! |

Yes that is right folks, 20 Crazy Nuts turned up to play golf last Saturday. As they were leaving their homes on Saturday, I bet their wives were saying, " Your Crazy". And they would be right of course. Who in their right mind would go out and play golf in those conditions. To start off with it was about 20 degrees below 0 and at least two people were in shorts. (Darren Robertson and Myself). The wind was bolwing and the rain was pouring and did not stop! Well the whole five groups of Belair had hit off so, so did we, and like sheep we followed.
It wasn't long before the groups started to call it quits and come back in from Mother Nature. (More like come to our Sensors). Some only played two holes (Me and Klaus). Some continued on to get about 7 holes in but the conditions were to bad and a day was called on the competition.
The Bridgestone Trophy will now sponsor the Mt. Compass Away Golf Day.
I would personally like to thank each and everyone who turned up to have a game of golf on Saturday knowing the conditions were as bad as they were.
Turning to a favourite Son of the Mitsubishi Staff Golf Club Warren Atkins, commonly know as WAZZA. Warren is in good spirits in hospital and says hello to everybody. If anyone has the time to say hello to Waz I'm sure he would like to hear from you. Wazza's number is 0408857098. |

Paul Mckenna had what you would call a ripper of a day. Shooting 10 strokes under his handicap Paul beat the inform man at the moment Bob Peach by two strokes. In the end it was a two horse race between Paul Mckenna and Bob Peach, with a 4-6 stroke gap between them and the rest of the field.
Paul has been playing some very good golf of late with a slight yo-yo effect, but nether the less scoring well in the 3 diamond competition. The ever reliable Bob Peach is carrying on his good form with a 79 off the stick.
It was good to see our el Presidenta in some good form, I think the threat of another L Plate looming helped Kym' onto his good form for the day.(That dam L Plate).
Conditions must have been on the easier side as the top eight players were all in the 60's. Tom Dougan seems to be in some good form shooting a 78 off the stick, not good enough to get him in the top ten though and Frankie Balter seems to be coping the course and body well with a net 69.
Bob Peach wins A Grade, Kym Tolius wins B Grade and Darren Robertson wins C Grade.
Nearest the Pins were on 2 Bob Peach and on 10 Darren Robertson.
Longest Drives were A Grade Steve Belcher, B Grade Kym Tolius and C Grade Steve Teraki.
L Plates go to Zac in A Grade, Steve Mckenna in B Grade and in C Grade Ken Ponting wins his first L Plate.
