Aussie Bob Wins the MMAL Fleet Day
Tuesday, 03 August 2010 11:54

Bob Peach is playing very consistent golf at the moment, finishing in the the top ten every week. Last Saturday, Bob went one further with 42 Stableford Points to win the day from Klaus Ebdrup and Steve Mckenna both on 40 Stableford Points.

Graham Mann made a charge to the finish line  but fell three points short at the final hurdle.

It was good to see an old club favourite back from injury in Frankie Balter hittin his straps around the greens at Belair. Frankie had a three month layoff from golf due to a complete Knee Replacement. Frankie shot 30 points, not bad for an old fella.

On the day all the Winners received great prizes and all players received a Mitsubishi Rally Art Hat.

The Club would like to thank Colin Shaw and Martin Williamson for their sponsorship on the day, all prizes were well received by all Members on the day.

Klaus Ebdrup wins A Grade with 40 Stableford Points, Steve Mckenna wins B Grade also with 40 Stableford Points and Graham Mann wins C Grade with 39 Points.

Nearest the Pins go to David Kemp on the 7th and to Steve Belcher on the 13th.

L Plates go to Chris Kay in A Grade,  Chris had an absolute shocker with 17 Points. In B Grade the L  Plate goes to Riley Marshall and in C Grade Colin Shaw wins the L Plate.

A couple of likely lads of the Club were missing, Rob Dale, Ron Jaekel, and Mike Taylor. These boys own a horse called 5 irons,(plus one more Kym Tolius). Their horse had his first run last Saturday and to all reports performed very well. Injury free and looking forward to his next run.

44 Stableford Points Wins the Big Kev Trophy!
Monday, 26 July 2010 10:09

The day was perfect. The sun was shinning no rain in sight and even the kookaburras' were laughing. Up steps to the Tee Mike Taylor, Mike ripped into the course and killed it. Mike shot 44 stableford points to win by 2 from Dave Kemp. Dave himself shot a good round with 42 points with a scrub on the 15th par 5.

With conditions good the scores in all grades were in the high 30's. There were some tragic stories though, Mat Loan on the 9th had used up all his 6 shots before Tee block on the ninth. Tom Dougan was playing crap, (that's if you call 82 off the stick crap).

Overall it was a good turn-out for the day with 32 Members attending the Big Kev Event.

The Snake in the grass Klaus Ebdrup (haven't heard from Klaus in a while but be aware of the snake in the grass). Klaus won A Grade with 38 Stableford Points, Dave Kemp won B Grade with 42 Stableford Points  and the ol timer Gerry Laird wins C Grade with 38 Stableford Points.

Nearest the Pins were on the 10th Craiglightfoot and on the 13th Phil Edwards.

L Plates this week go to Mr Zac KIngston in A Grade Matty Loan in B Grade and in C Grade the Lairdy's had both  ends covered with Steve winning the L Plate in C Grade.

The Tee sheet Login Sheet had its first trial run last week and seemed to be a hit with everyone. If any member is going to play in this Saturday's Competition, the MMAL Fleet Sales Trophy, please logon to the website and join or start a group to con firm your attendance.

The Nine Up Club and the Eagle has Landed.
Wednesday, 21 July 2010 10:43

In my experience only a few get to experience the joy of coming in at 9 up. Young Riley Marshall experienced this joy on the previous Saturday playing outstanding golf to win his 3rd. or 4th Trophy this year. Riley a young man of 14 shot 83 off the stick ( plus 9) to show some real class, and I have to say that it is a real pleasure to watch Riley develop as a fine young golfer.

Ron Jaekel also  played some mean golf on the weekend shooting a score of 7 up (78 off the stick). Under normal circumstances, you would think coming down the 18th,  7 up would be a comfortable lead and that no one would challenge that lead. It is a case of commiseration to Ron and congratulations to Riley Marshall. Both individuals had outstanding  rounds of golf .

The Eagle has landed in the form of Craig Lightfoot, Craig had a 2 on the Par 4 12th hole. Congratulations to Craig, Craig will receive a dozen golf balls from the club. The eagle's nest will now be reset to three balls from this Saturday.

Winner of A Grade was Ron Jaekel with Plus 7,  Bob Peach wins B Grade with Plus 6 and Steve Teraki wins C Grade with Plus 6 also.

Nearest the Pin on the 7th was Ron Jaekel and on the the 16th was Steve Teraki.

L Plate Winners were James Daley Minus 13! for A Grade (Tom Dougan , a sigh of relief), B Grade was our el Presidenta Kym Tolius  on Minus 3 and and Darren Robertson on Minus 9.

The next  Away game is on Sunday the 12th of September at Mount Compass. Tee off is at 9.30am. All Members attending the day could they please place their name on the Tee sheet at the Belair Park Pro shop at the golf course.

The Tee sheet login is up and running. All members that are playing this Saturday the 24th of July, all are encouraged to login to the Website and join a group or start a new group. This action will help the Tee Master out on the Saturday thankyou.

Victor Harbour, A Great Day on the Green!
Wednesday, 14 July 2010 20:31

We had storms on the Friday night and Trees down and debris everywhere. On the Sunday at Victor there was evidence of some trees and branches on the course but not enough to stop the crew from Mitsubishi.

We all trundled down to Victor to some doubt on the weather. The skies were a little dark. The dark skies moved on and a glass of port and a energy bar awaited the boys when they arrived at the Victor Harbour Golf Course.

Kym and Rob greeted a good turn up (30 approx) and the Victor Harbour  Away Event was underway.

As you stepped up to the 1st Tee over-looking a 70 metre drop and the Bluff as the Background, the sun shinning you would have to think that it doesn't get much better than this.

A few Koala's were under threat from the 1st Tee but apart from that the golf was running smoothly.

Four or so hours later, everyone was just about in the clubhouse.

The main topic of discussion was who was going to win the NAGA. For those that don't know, that is Not a Golfers Arsehole. Well honors were going to Mark Squire who had battled it  out all day with Steve Mckenna on 23 points. Mark had 22 points, 8 Points on the front nine and 14 points on the back nine. Mark was frantically asking everyone what they had but was loosing the battle until our el Presidenta walked in and said that he had scored 19 points and saved the day for Mark.

Mind you it wasn't a bad prize, a bottle of port, a cap and a golf ball. I might play crap and try and win that one myself next time. (Some will say that I play crap anyway).

Bob Peach continued his good form from Saturday and won the day on Sunday, he also took the lead over Adam Taylor, by 1, in the combined Away Games Tournament .

Aussie Bob Wins the Stan Bell Memorial!
Tuesday, 13 July 2010 12:45

Friday night  was a storm night to remember. On approaching Belair Golf  Course it was quite noticeable that trees and debris were everywhere. A big storm had past through Adelaide and caused a fair bit of damage. Did that stop the diehard Mitsubishi Golfers. The answer to that question is NO!

We or a small group of 19 trundled out into the abyss an had a game of golf. It was the Stan Bell Memorial.

For those of you that didn't know Stan he was an ex committee person, an ex President and an all round fun guy to have a game of golf and a drink and a laugh at the end of the round of golf. Stan to this day is still missed by all those that Stan touched with his likeable personality and humor. Rest in Peace Stan.

The stand out person of the Stan Bell Memorial Event was Bob Peach, a clear winner with 41 Stableford Points. Bob won three shots clear from Paul Mckennaon with 38 Stableford Points.

Winner of A Grade was Mike Taylor , winner of B Grade was Rob Dale and winner of C Grade was Paul Mckenna.

The L Plate go to Steve Belcher in A Grade Riley Marshall in B Grade and to Big Kev in C Grade.

Keir Wheeler Wins his 1st Trophy the Monthly Medal Stroke Event from Peter Rowe and Steve Laird on a Countback!
Monday, 05 July 2010 12:14

Keir Wheeler a recently newer member decided not to go out the night before and play golf on the Saturday. He Won the Monthly Medal on a count back from Peter Rowe and Steve Laird.

Keir  nearly missed out on the victory, assuming that when his phone rang in his bag that it was an automatic two stroke penalty. A lesson can be learnt from this incident, and that is to check with the Match Committee to confirm what the ruling is.

Conditions were perfect on Saturday and the results showed the conditions with 66 the winning result.

Some Members did struggle, including myself.  I would like to thank the match committee on a good decision the night before, in increasing the handicap to 17  in A Grade . I was looking at that dam L Plate again.

Chris Kay won the L Plate in A Grade (looking at the score Chris you were destined to win the L Plate that week with B Grade on 77). Steve McKenna wins the L Plate in B Grade and after a controversial reversal and $50 Bucks in the hand of the Club Captain Alan Harrison wins the L Plate on a count back from Graham (Super) Mann.

Nearest the Pins on the 7th were Steve Mckenna (again) and on the 16th was Chris Kay.

Longest Drives were Tony Bryant A Grade, Mat Loan B Grade and Darren Robertson C Grade

Lindsay Jones the man that doesn't want to attract attention, put up $50 for a nearest the pin chip from the rotunda at the putting green. Keir Wheeler carrying on his good form had the early lead, Zac Kingston couldn't come to terms with the artificial grass and I put one close but not close enough.

Up steps that arxxxxxle Steve Belcher and one two three bounces puts the ball into the cup from the artificial grass.

Thankyou to Lindsay for a bit of a laugh at the end of the round.

Two Consistent Rounds of Golf Give Steve Mckenna a New Bag!
Wednesday, 30 June 2010 19:24

If only Phil Edwards had played both rounds, Phil may have had a new golf Bag. Never the less it was a good round of 42 Stableford Points that won the day last Saturday. Phil's nearest rivals were Zac Kingston and Dave Kemp a couple of points away from Phil.

Phil may have won the day but Steve Mckenna won the Mike Taylor Golf Bag Event. Steve put in two good rounds of golf at the right time to win from Alan Harrison by one stroke and a bunch of strugglers a few strokes back.

The weather looked grim on Saturday and started off raining but fined up to be nice for golf. A few lads that wore shorts discarded them for long pants, (wimps)

Good scores were the flavor of the day with high thirties and a couple of fourties being posted on the day.

Zac Kingston won A Grade, Dave Kemp won B Grade and Alan Harrison won C Grade.

Tony Bryant Came Third in A Grade (last actually, that dam L Plate) and also the Club Captain has to buy a jug of Beer this week as a result of a 4 putt, a few weeks ago. Graham Hunt won the L Plate in B Grade and Marcus Heveldt won the L Plate in C Grade. Also Marcus I heard you had a couple of amazing shots on the weekend, your ball was bouncing off signs trees lamp posts possums and kangaroos, doing everything except going in that dam hole.

Nearest the Pins go to the Mckenna's this week.

Will He Do It Again!
Tuesday, 22 June 2010 13:44
This is not the first time that Mike Taylor has won his own Trophy. A few years ago Mike Taylor put in another couple of good rounds to win his own Trophy. Mike being Mike gave his golf bag to the person that finished second.
On Saturday Mike had a round of 40 Stableford points to be a clear winner on the day. The next member that is the closest to Mike is Steve McKenna on 37 Points, everyone else is lingering around the 30 - 35 Point range.
Well everyone that had a crap round (including myself, hit the wrong ball, and Mark Squire 4 putted, know how that feels Mark). There is always this week, this week is round 2 of the Mike Taylor Golf Bag. Just ask Kym Tolius he came from dead last to win the golf bag from Tom Dougan by 1 shot.
So to Riley Marshall, Mat Loan and Darren Robertson there is always hope.
Good to see our ex Presidenta Ron Jaekel out, although he had a crap round of 28 points, apparently Ron you couldn't putt!
The L Plates this week go to A Grade, Ron Jaekel, B Grade Mat Loan and in C Grade Darren Robertson.
Nearest the Pins go to Kym Tolius on 16th and to Tony Bryant on the 10th.
A special mention to the Jack and Justin Pitcher at the Pinneroo Open Golf Day. Jack won lowest off the stick in C Grade and Justin won the day for C Grade. Well done lads.
