Some say that "Graham (Super) Mann" is the Man of Steel, but Wayne Steel knows better. Wayne probably thought that when he posted his score of 38 Stableford Points that it was a good effort but probably not good enough. Well guess again Wayne, Wayne beat a small group on 37 Stableford Points to snatch victory and secure a win just before Wayne heads off to Queensland. Conditions were good on Saturday as a small field of 25 headed out to do battle with metal stick and ball. There were some good scores and some pretty average scores. I felt sorry for Steve Belcher (for about 2 seconds) on Saturday finishing last in A Grade, or was that second Steve. No Matter what it is, it is still the L Plate in A Grade Steve. In B Grade Graham Hunt takes the honours. In C Grade I will give the L Plate to Wazza and let Mark Fusco off the hook, and why you say, because I can. Klaus told me that he didn't deserve the L Plate last Saturday, but Klaus, you don't make the rules on that, I do, so it still stands. Nearest the pins were the man of Steel on 7 and Steve Mckenna on 13. Spare a thought for two of the club's injured players Frankie Balter and Lindsay Jones. I spoke to both during the week and it will be a while before we see them both on the course. Lindsay came out of surgery on his shoulder on Saturday and is still very sore and on some pretty good drugs. Lindsay would love to hear from anybody who has a spare moment to ring him, his phone number is 0400010095. Frankie is on the mend and improving as each day passes. Frankie said that he will come up and visit as soon as he feels up to it. |

Riley Marshall does it again. Two weeks in a row now and Riley gets another lot of Ten Points for the Three Diamond Cup. Riley is playing great golf shooting a net 62 to win the Monthly Medal, (his second) and hold off a relentless challenge from Steve Cunningham. There were good scores in all grades last Saturday Dave Kemp shooting a net 65 and Phil Edwards came in with a score of 67. Phil also wins a dozen golf balls for his brilliant approach shot on the 18th one metre from the pin. (Thankyou to Lindsay Jones for his donation of a dozen golf balls). Paul Mckenna and Steve Teraki also having good rounds of net 68's. There were some special moments on Saturday, one I know Mat Loan would like to forget and that is Mat's first shot on the first hole. Yes, it is a "jug of beer!" Mat, for not making the red ladies markers. If I am going to talk about Mat's debacle I better talk about my four putts on the fifth hole. Yes, the "Club Captain" has to buy a jug of beer as well. It'll have to wait for a couple of weeks when I'm not working as I want to enjoy the beer as well. I think Alan Harrison must have had one good shot on Staurday and that was on the 10th winning the NTP. The club wins on the 2nd with nobody landing on the green. Steve Belcher wins A Grade, Dave Kemp wins B Grade and Steve Cunningham wins C Grade. The L Plates go to the Zac Kingston in A Grade (well you will get these low handicaps). For the first time and because I can and because I make the rules up as I go on this, there will be two L Plates given out to two B Graders on Saturday, Klaus Ebdrup and Chris Kay, both pulling the pin on the round. In C Grade Alan Harrison wins the L Plate. |

Young Riley Marshall not only took on allcomers last week he had to deal with bad weather, two scrubbed holes and play with Zac and Myself. Riley shot 43 Stableford Points to win comfortably from his nearest rivals Chris Kay and Mat Loan on 41 Points. Riley is developing into a very capable Golfer. Two years ago young Riley was playing off of 36 and up until Saturday was off of 24, we wait in anticipation for what Riley's new handicap will be when Grange give him his new handicap. Chris Kay has showed some form over the last couple of weeks shooting in the 40's on both occasions. Mat Loan put in a good round of 41 Points to challenge Riley, "but missed it by that much." Paul Mckenna dropped of the pace this week, having a bit of a shocker. Paul has played some good golf over the last 6 or so weeks with scores in the low to mid 40's. Paul came crashing back down to rock bottom in C Grade winning the L Plate and the elustrious CHICKEN AWARD. (I know how you feel Paul I won that dam L Plate in A Grade). While we are talking about L Plates, Mike Taylor had a shocker to win, I think your Second L Plate in a row Miike. Dave Kemp wins the Nearest the Pin on the 7th and Mat Loan wins the Nearest the Pin on the 13th. Craig Lightfoot hasn't been quite the same golfer since he lost 13 strokes in one week. In that week though Craig had 49 Points to win the day, the day being the first round of the Dave Kemp Putter. Craig only had to shoot around par to win the putter, and thats just about what Craig did. Craig shot 35 Points to win the Putter. Well done Craig. |

The Defending Champ of the Raynor Cup Kym Tolius's quest for Back to Back Titles came to an end on Saturday. Kym was defeated on the 16th hole on Saturday by Darren Robertson. It sounds like it was a tough match for both cocerned with Darren taking the points on the day. The other match was one that I think Steve would like to forget about. Zac took and early lead and was never headed all day. Apparently Steve you couldn't drop a putt all day. (Wish that was the case when you played me!) The Final now is to be played between Zac Kingston and Darren Robertson. For everbody else it was Stableford and it was probably the oldest serving Member in the club that got over the line. That Member would be Graham Simmounds with 45 Points. Graham won quite comfortably in the end with no real challengers, the closest rivals on 42 and 41 points well short of the benchmark set by Graham on 45 Points. Winning A Grade was Tom Dougan on 39 Points. Winning B Grade was Chris Kay on 41 Points and winning C Grade was Paul Mckenna on 42 Points. L Plate Winners are A Grade Craig Lightfoot with 30 Points, B Grade Graham Hunt on 29 Points and C Grade was Colin Shaw on 20 Points. |
