Rob Dale's Form from Mccraken Continues!
Tuesday, 18 May 2010 13:28
Rob Dale showed blistering form at McCraken with 45 Stableford Points. A couple of weeks later he shows us that he's still got it with a match winning 42 Points. Rob beat Lindsay Jones by one point on the Weekend to win the Thompson Playford Trophy.
It was a closely contested match between just three club members in the end with the ever so brightly dressed Lindsay Jones, and Jack Pitcher (Jack in plain clothes) threatening to come over the top of Rob, Rob held on to take the day out.
It was good to see Ben Dale out although his Dad had to show him around the course because it had been so long he probably forgot how to get around.
Paul Mckenna is in fine form taking both Nearest the Pins out and shooting another competative score of 39 Points.
One of our longest serving members Frankie Balter is recovering from a knee operation and from all reports is pretty sore at the moment. If anybody has the time it would be nice if they could contact Frankie and say "Hello", I'm sure he would be happy to hear from you.
As I said earlier Paul Mckenna won both the NTP's on the 2nd and 13th, Bob Peach won A Grade, Ben Dale wan B Grade and Lindsay Jones won C Grade.
L Plates Go To Zac KIngston in A Grade (a bit of a fall from grace Zac). Mike Taylor wins the L Plate in B Grade (if you were in A Grade Mike you may have won it, Bob had 32 points as well) and in C Grade Riley Marshall wins the L Plate in C Grade.

Kingston Slaughters the Course! Matchplay Results.
Wednesday, 12 May 2010 10:33
Zac Kingston stamped his mark on the course last Saturday with a 75 off the Stick relating to a nett 63. Reports back to the way Zac played were that they haven't seen anyone hit the ball like that for a long while. Zac was in a class of his own on Saturday with the next closest competitor (Mark Squire 66) 3 nett strokes away.
A small group of challengers made a move on Zac on the day but to no avail. Zac played srtong golf to win the day and loose another stroke off his handicap, welcome to 11 Zac.
There was one Matchplay Match played last Saturday between Steve Belcher and Tony Bryant. Tony Bryant was probably the favourite to win but Steve Belcher had other ideas. Steve played brilliantly on the front nine shooting 37 off the stick and with Tony Bryant having to give Steve 4 strokes it made it hard.
Sitting on the 10th, looking at 6 down, thinking I'm getting smashed here, I would like to add some respectabilty to the score, I went about the task of trying to win just one hole.
Well I did more than that. Out of the next six holes I won Five and halved one to get the match to one up going into the 17th. Steve was now feeling like I did for the front nine. To Steve's Credit he kept his nerve and won the 17th and the match was over. Congratulations Steve, the match was played in good spirit.
Winning A Grade was Peter Rowe. The Winner of B Grade Was Mark Squire and the C Grade winner was Paul Mckenna.
There was only one nearest the pin this week with nobody landing on the 10th green. Ray Saxby was NTP on the 7th.
L Plates go to Bob Peach in A Grade Klaus Ebdrup in B Grade and Steve Cunningham in C Grade.
Can all Members check to confirm that each Member only has 14 Clubs in their bag. Any Club Member with more than 14 Clubs in their bag will be immediately disqualified for the day's Competition.

McCracken A Great Day Out.
Tuesday, 04 May 2010 12:16
Early on a Sunday, somewhere South of Adelaide on a road to Victor Harbour, about 20 or so Motley Golfers arrived at McCracken Golf Course.
The Boys arrived to a glass of port, green stuffed olives, cheese and crackers. With a who cares about the golf attitude lets just have a good time, the boys started to devour the olives and cheese and drink the port.
With about 10 carts booked there were not to many boys walking.
Off the boys went into the sea of green not to be heard of for about 4 hours or so.
Every now and again you would hear "that is bull##" Mckenna your ball can't do that". Still the boys still did battle with themselves, the course and their partners.
At the end of it all a couple of us had good scores the rest were just crap.
Rob Dale had a day out to remember with 45 points and won the day. Coming in second was Adam Taylor with 43 Points,( Adam plays off 11) and with that score would have thought he had it in the bag. Adam you should have known that low handicppers don't win anything.
I think all in all every member that played enjoyed the day.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank Kym Tolius and Rob Dale in organising a Great Day and very succsessful afternoon of Golf.

Local Boy Takes on Superman!Matchplay Matches//Hit off Time for Saturday the 8th of May
Tuesday, 04 May 2010 11:23
Young Riley Marshall took on Superman (Graham Mann) but just fell short on a countback to win the Monthly Medal for May. With all the greens back in play and no more preferred lies from Tree line to Tree line, (preferred lies are in play on the cut surface of the fairways) Graham played a great game with a net 65 to win the Monthly Medal.
Scores were down a bit as we had to play the whole Golf Course again and get away from the one putt pick up rule. I kinda liked that one though.
Zac Kingston had a good round with a net 67 winning A Grade, Kym Tolius won B Grade also with a net 67 and Riley Marshall won C Grade on a net 65.
Craig Lightfoot and Chris Kay had shockers (Net 82's) to win the L Plates in A Grade and B Grade, while Darren Robertson wasn't quite as bad as Craig and Chris with a net 81 to win the L Plate in C Grade.
Nearest the Pin on the 2nd was Mike Taylor and on the 16th was Ray Saxby.
Longest Drives were for A Grade Zac Kingston, B Grade Kym Tolius and C Grade Steve Cunningham.
On the day I will leave you with this thought. Kym Tolius is bending down to pick up his ball and is almost deafened by the sound of Rob Dale passing wind in Kym's Right ear. I don't think Kym will ever be the same after that.
Match Play Matches to be Played by May the 8th.
Zac Kingston v Phil Edwards
Tom Dougan v Darren Robertson
Kym Tolius v Frankie Balter
Steve Belcher v Tony Bryant
There will be no Three Diamond Points on offer this Week due to the Matchplay Matches.
Hitt off times for this Saturday the 8th of May will be between 8.30am and 8.45am. All members playing Matchplay matches and other members playing on Saturday, could they arrive by 8.15am please. The competition for all other members not envolved in Matchplay Matches will be Stroke.

A Sad time for Jack and Justin Pitcher and their family
Tuesday, 27 April 2010 13:27
On Saturday the 24th of April 2010, the Henry Pitcher Trophy was being presented to Darren Robertson for his performance the week before. The Club was hoping that the 99 years young Henry Pitcher would be able to present the Trophy. Justin stood in for his Grand-dad. When asked why Henry couldn't be present to present the Trophy in person Justin told us that Henry wasn't well.
Henry passed away on Saturday afternoon the 24th of April after a short battle with cancer.
Henry Pitcher worked for Chrysler Australia for over 40 years.
The Club sends their deepest condolences to Jack and Justin Pitcher and to the rest of the Pitcher family.

An Inform Paul Mckenna Shoots the Lights Out with 44 Points to Win the Peter Cramer Trophy!
Tuesday, 27 April 2010 12:34
An inform Paul Mckenna shoots the lights out for the 2nd week in a row to snare the Peter Cramer/Jack Daniels Trophy. Paul shot 45 points last week and was unlucky not to win last week if it wasn't for Craig Lightfoot posting a score of 49 points.
Paul had some "Wolves" knockin on his door (Frankie, Rob Dale,Wayne Steel, Mike Taylor,Darren Robertson, Gerry Laird and a few others), all circling for a kill, but Paul must have had his double barrel shot gun out and scared them all off.
It was a good day had by all, good scores a bbq after the game and great prizes put on by Peter Cramer.
I think everybody walked away with a prize on the day.
I heard Mat Loan had a good day 4 Putting on a green and loosing his personal team match. Everybody that doesn't know, it is unoffically a JUG of Beer if you four putt on a green. Years ago it use to beer a jug of beer if you wore your hat inside the Bar Area as well, maybe that rule should come back into play.
Ron Marshall wins the L Plate in A Grade, Mat Loan, youve had a bad week winning the L Plate in B Grade and Phil Edwards wins the L Plate in C Grade.
Frankie Balter wins A Grade, Wayne Steel wins B Grade and Rob Dale Wins C Grade.
Nearest the Pins were on the 2nd Ray Saxby,on the 10th was Darren Robertson and on the 13th was nearly a hole in 1Tony Bryant (it may as well been 20 feet away if it didn't go in).

What a Day on the Green! Saturday the 24th Peter Cramer(Ron Marshall's brother-in-law) Trophy
Wednesday, 21 April 2010 11:00
49,45's,43 and Peter Rowe four putting. What a day on the Green! Saturday the 17th of April had it all, up until Saturday 49 in golf was a cricket score. Craig Lightfoot, a new member to the club absolutely destroyed the course. This new handicapping system from Golflink has ripped Craig's handicap in half, Craig you are now playing off 13 down from 22. Welcome to A Grade Craig.
I played with Klaus in the early hit off group on Saturday. Klaus, (good to here from the snake in the grass) posted a net 45 Stableford points and would have thought he had it in the bag until Klaus looked at the Sunday Mail on Sunday morning and read the results.
High scores were the order of the day on Saturday, if you were not shooting in the 40's you just didn't have a chance. Nine of thirty one players finished in the fourties.
The winner of A Grade with 41 Points was Frankie Balter. Klaus Ebdrup with 45 Points won B Grade and Paul Mckenna also with 45 Points waon C Grade.
Nearest the Pins on the 13th was Tony Bryant and on the 16th was the four putter man Peter Rowe.
L Plate winners were for A Grade, for the first time and hopefuly not the last time Mr. go out to all hours of the night Zac Kingston. B Grade winner was Mat Loan and C Grade winner was the man with the biggest smile in the club Steve Cunningham.
This Saturday is the Peter Cramer Trophy. Peter is Ron Marshall's brother-in-law and is sponsoring the day on Saturday the 24th of April. Any member wanting to play on Saturday please arrive by 8.15am thankyou.
