Tuesday, 12 January 2010 10:11

We are all Mad or Crazy!
Tuesday, 12 January 2010 09:42
The temperature forecast for last Saturday was 43 degrees. The sensible ones stayed home and drank cold beer, but not us, (us being the silly people that played golf on Saturday). It was tough going and that was just walking up the first.
Anyway, those of us that took on the heat and won, had a great day, and at the end of the day enjoyed a well deserved cold beer .
Phil Salvemini sold his old good long pants to Dave Kemp. (Dave it is an improvement on those other classic shorts from the 70's).
It also looks like when you sponsor a day you seem to win your own day. Two weeks previously Steve Laird shot an 84 off the stick and won his own day, on saturday Steve Mckenna had 45 Points and won his own sponsored day. There must be something in the name Steve because a Steve has won the comp for the last 3 weeks.

40 Degrees on Saturday. Hit off at 8.15am
Thursday, 07 January 2010 20:06
The Temperature will be in the 40's on Saturday. I would urge everyone to arrive at Belair Golf Course by 8 am so as we can hit off by 8.15am.
Thankyou Club Captain Tony Bryant.

A Very Sad Start to the New Year for a Former Multiple Club Champion
Monday, 04 January 2010 20:37
On Thursday the 31st when everyone was preparing for News Year Eve and a good start to a New Year, a former Club Champion, Tom Dougan, was left to grieve the death of his Mother.
Toms Mum went in for scheduled Surgery. After the operation Toms Mums condition declined fast and his mum passed away in Toms arms.
Due to family health and family commitments Tom has been unable to play golf with the club in the last 12 or so months.
Tom and his family have had it tough in the past six or so months and it would be commendable if any member of the club could support Tom and his family in their hour of need.
If any member would like to be present at Toms Mums funeral, please could you read the paper daily or contact myself ( Tony Bryant 0416 084 045) for Funeral Details. The Funeral is most likely to be on either Thursday or Friday the 7th or 8th of January.
Speaking to Tom your attendance would be very well appreciated.
Club Captain Tony Bryant

The Presentation Night
Tuesday, 15 December 2009 11:01
The Club's annual Presentation Night was held last Friday the 11th of December. All reports reflect that it was another great succsess and everyone that attended had a fantastic time.
There were lots of prizes that were given away, umbrella's, wine, first aid kits and numerous other prizes.
Many thanks to Kym for hosting the Presentation Night. Kym did a first class job on the whole presentation. As well as Kym I think Fiona MacIntosh for Fiona's slide show presentation and game's that Fiona came up with was absolutley brilliant. Just one thing Fiona, I think Graham Simmounds has a bone to pick with you. He says that the picture you took of him was not his good side and that he wants another picture taken. One of his good side. (We're still lookn for that one). I just wanted Graham to wear his ol Blue long sleeve shirt. Would'ave picked him straight away.
As Club Captain I would personally like to thank Geof and Jackie on a wonderful meal accompined with great service with Tom and the rest of the Waiting and Bar Staff.
Also I would like to thank Ron and Anne Marshall for their continued support of our unique but friendly Golf Club.
Congratulations to all the Trophy Winners on the night. Some individual winners needed a trailer to take their prizes away.
Congratulations to all the Winners of the Club Championships, to C Grade Champion Darren Robertson, unfortunately Darren was away in America at the time of the event. I would also like to congratulate Zac Kingston on his win for the B Grade Championship.
I myself feel very fortunate to win the prestigious title of Club Champion for the 3rd time. Every win, the feeling just gets better every time.
I will now talk about an honour that I think is up there with the Club Champion award. You can't win this award, you have to earn it. To earn this award a person has to dedicate time outside golf and work. The individulal has to work hard for the club to achieve this award. This award is not just given to anyone that sits on the committee for say twelve months. He would have been envolved with club for many years and have put countless hours into the club and been paid nothing for the time and effort he has given. Mitsubishi Staff Golf Club is very fortunate to have living members that have achieved this great honour within the club. These people include Rob Dale, Graham Mann, Klaus Ebdrup, Wayne Gordon. Members that are no longer living with us are Murray Bryant,(my uncle) Jimmy Pike, Stan Bell.
For someone to achieve this honour the individual would have had to do all of the above.
Ron Jaekel is one such person that has done all of the above and more. Ron Jaekel is a worthy recipient of LIFE MEMBER of the Mitsubishi Staff Golf Club. Congratulations Ron.

Phil Salvemini and 46!
Tuesday, 15 December 2009 10:31
What has Phil Salvemini and 46 got in common? Well I can tell you it is not his age. Phil compiled 46 stableford points or a scorching 85 off the stick. (Phil is eligible for the best off the stick in C Grade, for he did not scrub any hole in the round of 85). This is a super round for the ex C grader who has just catapulted himself into B Grade. Yes Phil welcome to B Grade.
Phil has made the handicpper do extra work, well the computer asks me if I have put the right score into the computer if the score is over 45.
Graham Hunt had a good round going and it is not often you would think that you would have lost with 43 points. I think you would be feeling very confident with 43 until you start looking through the cards and see the 46 score, I know I was, I had 42 and was feeling confident and at the end of the day I was nowhere near the winning score.
The club has had some good turn outs over the last 2 weeks with 30 members turning out to play. Surprisingly for last Saturday as well for there were a few sore heads from our presentation night. Some of the lads kicked on at the Belair Hotel and from all reports some were kicked out from the Belair at about 3am in the morning. It was funny to see the sore heads roll up on the Saturday including mine.
L Plates, the lucky L Plate winners are P Rowe on a countback from Klaus in A Grade. In B Grade there was discrepancy last week over the L Plate but this week Phil you have it, ahhh you gotta love this L Plate. In C Grade the winner is Mr. G Gerry Laird.

A Clear Winner! Riley Marshall by 2.
Tuesday, 08 December 2009 10:52
Riley Marshall the youngest member at Mitsubishi Golf Club has won his first Monthly Medal by 2 shots. As Club Captain and I'm sure many others in the club think as well that Riley has a great future in South Australian Golf. I'm sure this is one of many trophies that this young man is goin to win within the club and beyond.
Riley shows alot of confidence. Sitting after the game enjoying a nice drink after his efforts young Riley said to our President,
" What did you have Ron"
Ron said, " I had a nett 64"
Riley said  "hah, not good enough".
Riley I could not have put it any better myself.
It was a good turn out for the first round of the Summer Cup. Thirty people had great conditions to put some good scores on the board. This year we have an extra incentive to play for being the trip for 2 to Mckracken which includes two rounds of golf and two nights accomodation with all meals payed for. Thankyou to Lindsay Jones.
The Club had its First Club Photo on Saturday, it was good to see 30 members out to participate in the photo. Tony Bryant will endeavour to send out logons and pass words so everybody can have access to all pictures.

El Presidenta wins the Day but The Kemp Wins the Monthly Medal Final/Club Photo
Tuesday, 01 December 2009 08:32
El Presidenta (Ron Jaekel) wins the Day with a good knock of 80 off the stick Nett 65 (Must have had the better conditions of the day hitting off first, couldn't be his ability). Dave Kemp rose above all the challenges and won the Monthly Medal Final on a countback from Ray Saxby.
Conditions were tough on Saturday after another Saturday of wind and rain. There were some high scores on Saturday reflecting the conditions. The club welcomes Phil Edwards back form somewhere up north, Phil said that he had about two games of golf in three months. His score on the front nine showed that with a cricket score of 60. Phils back nine improved with a 43 to make his score a little more respectable. Phil did miss out on the L Plate though, Super Man (Graham Mann) stole that off Phil. The L Plate being one of the most sought after trophies in the Club, and you can win it weekly.
The Club would like to welcome two new members to the club, Steve Teraki and Marcus Hevelrt. The two boys have been playing on a Tuesday and Steve made his Debut to the big smoke on Saturday.
As I said last week it only seems like yesterday when the season started in March and now the last game in November has been played, he Summer Cup starts this week and Xmas fastly approaches.
Handicaps for the Summer Cup are as follows A Grade is 0-16, B Grade is 17-23 and C Grade is 24-36.
The Inaugural Club Photo is to be taken this Saturday. The Club would like everyone to be there early (7.50am) as to have the picture taken and hit off by 8.30am.
