What a finish to the Putting competition! It would have been great to win the monthly medal, but there was something else going on that day. A Sure Shot GPS unit worth over $400. Playing with Rob Dale can be quite interesting to say the least, especilally if he is on a par 3 and qualified for the gps. Travelling around the course Rob was trying to sell his qualification to all of his playing group. When Kym Myself and Rob had all qualified and Steve Belcher hadn't, well did we all give it to Steve." Are you on Kym, are you on Tony, oh Steve are you on". Eventually Steve got on on the 16th and qualified. The putting was tense, even from one metre away. There were a couple of early exits from the first round( Rob, Waza, and Darren Robertson). The putting competition started to sort the men from the boys in the second round. I must have been a boy cos I got knocked out in the second round. Well they all started to drop like flies until there were only four left. Peter Rowe, Graham Mann, David Kemp (we were thinking of disqualifying Dave as he didn't have the appropriate foot wear on) and Steve Belcher. They were putting from about 6 metres away. The atmosphere was electic with special comments coming from Rob Dale. Everybody was going close except for Steve Belcher who was always short and getting plenty of coaching from the sidelines. Graham Mann putted a great shot and looked in all the way until the end and it lipped out.(good putter out of luck). Everyone had their chances except for Steve always short (blamed it on the port he was drinking). Dave Kemp just lipped out as well. Then Peter Rowe stepped up to the plate and just Dropped it from eight metres away. All the challenges just fell by the wayside, and finally Steve put one behind the hole but not in. Well done Peter Rowe the winner of the Sure Shot GPS, he'll probably need it after having a nett 80 in the monthly but medal. At this moment I don't think he really cares about that score. Overall a good day had by all.
