With the start of the Club Championship qualifying rounds played in good weather, it was no surprise to see 24 players out there on Saturday. As usual with the first two rounds, Kempie is our sponsor and this year has thrown up a Mercedes Golf bag as the major prize for the best stableford score after the 2 rounds.... not sure if he just needs a new golf bag, or is happy with his driver.... either way, that is the prize this year. And fresh out of the blocks last week was Pete ' Don't Call Me Grumpy - Chu ' Rowe with a great score of 41 points. Although leading the race for the bag , Pete only qualified third for the Club Championships.... smart move Pete, more chance of surviving the first play - off if you don't come up against the 'Jig Saw Lord ' Dougan. Well played Buddy.
And so the top 5 of blokes in the hunt for the bag, but by no means the only chances are Pete ( 41 ) , Klaus ( 39 ) , Phil ( 37 ) , Frankie ( 37 ) and Joff and Kempie tied on 36...Well, maybe they are the only chances really...... Good luck boys, will be tough to knock over the HGC !!!
As For Club Championship spots... The top five at this stage for each grade are as follows - All scores are gross ie. Off the stick ;
Club Champion
Tommy ' Don't forget the first rule of The Jig Saw Club ' Dougan ( 75 ) Klaus ' The Don Burke of Hawthorndene ' Ebdrup ( 80 ) Pete ' Got this ' Rowie ( 80 ) Dave ' Maybe I should play in shorts to put them off ' Kemp ( 85 ) and Frankie 'Can't believe I couldn't handbrake into B Grade ' Balter with 87.
B Grade
Joff ' C'mon you blokes ' Gould ( 89 ) Matty ' Killer on the Dartboard ' Loan ( 94 ) Paul ' Black Hawk Down ' McKenna ( 94 ) 'Maybe I will play next week ' Kymbo ( 97 ) and Brent ' Ford ' Ranger with 99.
C Grade
Conrad ' How good is this Club business ' Peters ( 96 ) Phil ' Still got it ' Edwards ( 97 ) DC ' Look at me go ' 5 ( 102 ) Super ' Cabin boy ' Mann ( 102 ) and The Nullabor Nymph himself, Big Kev Rowland with 110.
Plate winners and no chancers this week were Mike ' Mr Norwood ' Taylor in A Grade with 93. His trusty sidekick Rob 'El NAGA ' Dale takes B Grade with 105 and Paul 'Maybe not this year ' Hughes claims it for C Grade with 113.
Just a reminder boys, anyone not available to play the Semi or the final should mark this on their card this week, so that tee masters can get the players right.
Just a quick welcome back to all the tourists... Klaus, Manny and the Rowland Sisters. Good to have you all back on board.
Congrats to Belcher on winning the Bridgestone bag a few weeks ago, and to Kenneth 'The Phantom ' Ponting and his sidekick Paul ' Huge ' Hughes on their win in the life members 2 ball Comp.
Good luck to everyone with a shot at something this weekend boys
Cheers
Robbo
