With the Match play semi finals on Saturday , wasn't surprising to see the overall numbers down a little , as guys took the advantage to score some brownie points with their partners if they weren't involved . By all accounts , the match play games were all played in the right spirit , and all of a sudden 12 became 6 fighting it out for the gold leaf on the honor boards.
In A Grade , Tommy ' Payback for last year ' Dougan defeated Steve ' My odds were too short , and I turned up too early ' Belcher 5 & 4.
Frankie ' Hit ' em straight ' Balter defeated Pete ' I missed my squirrel brothers ' Rowe 4 & 3 .
In B Grade Matty ' 6 packs are back on boys ' Loan defeated Joff ' Winning $20 on the tee did me in ' Gould 5 & 3 .
Paul ' No need to launch today ' McKenna defeated Kymbo ' But I putted so well on the cruise ? ' Tolius 5 & 4.
In C Grade Phil ' Caravan Park ' Edwards defeated Graham ' So close ' Mann on the 19th hole... of golf that is. Personally , I reckon' Super would have him covered on the other 19th !!!
And Dave ' You beauty , won one ' Clarke defeated Paul ' Still Huges ' Hughes... don't have the score recorded boys, sorry.
Well done to all players , and should be a good mix of players next week in the Finals.
For the also rans , Robbie 'Shit day on the punt ' Dale won the day with a score of 39 points . Well played R D , shame about the nags that are still running tho ' .
Bulmers managed to put down his big block vapor long enough to win A Grade with 34 points , Steve ' It could've been me ' McKenna wins B Grade with 35 points , and no other C Graders bothered to show !!
Plate winners were Dave ' Gotta go back to calling it a practice round ' Kemp in A Grade with 26, and in B Grade ' You've gotta be shitting me , it starts with a 3 !! ' Robbo takes it in a 2 horse race with 32 points.
The birdie hole also went off this week , with Manny and DC - 5 sharing the pot .
And then rolled on Sunday , and what a great day it was . With the collapse of the Mad Hatters night , the committee made a decision to throw extra funds at the family day, and hope like hell that the members would support it. And thankfully you blokes didn't disappoint us. What a great turn out , with a BBQ breakky with champagne, port, coffee , tea and beers... the day got off to a great start.
Then followed nine holes of golf that were more enjoyable for some than others, followed by another BBQ for lunch and presentations. Thanks to Penny and Liz for their contributions..not expected , but very much appreciated by all. Very difficult to single out blokes when it was a combined effort by all committee members , but as it is Robs' sponsored day , would just like to say a big thanks Patron for all your work on the day mate.
For those keeping track , Paulie McK won the day but missed out on his prize as he had to take a flight back to the north side of town to make it before dark !!! Well done Paulie, great to meet the clan mate. On the downside , Chris Kay won one of the best looking trophys' we have , taking out the NAGA and stopping me from going back to back.
Again guys , on behalf of the committee , thanks for supporting the day and making it enjoyable for everyone. It will be back for sure next year , planning is already underway... so if you have any ideas on what else we could do to improve the day , don't be shy to raise it with a committee person... We need honest feedback to build on this great benchmark.
VERY IMPORTANT ... Could everyone please make sure they bring in their $45 a head presentation dinner money this week, so Big Kev has the money to pay for the dinner. The dinner is Saturday week , so the more we pay now , saves the headache of chasing money on the day.
Good luck to finalists
Cheers Guys n Gals
Robbo
