Last Saturday saw the 2016 AGM take place , with a great number of members turning up to hear not only how the Club is tracking , but to also vote in the new committee. Either that , or the bribe of a free breakfast was just too good an offer to knock back , even with a 7.15am start time. After the word from Big Kev that the Club is tracking very nicely both in members and it's financial status , after Robbie G's audit , the new board was voted in. Unfortunately , this year we have lost over 40 years combined service with Super Mann and Belcher stepping down from their duties , but are forever grateful for the hard work , thanks guys. Big Kev obviously has plans on requiring a driver to a few meetings this year , as he has bought Colin Priest onboard as a new committee member... and he wasn't present on the day to decline the nomination !! Welcome aboard Col... personally , I'd make Kev drive you, he loves it !!!! Onwards and upwards for the 2016 season kids....
And to the golf.... As if the Summer Cup was ever in doubt , Frankie ' Band Aid ' Balter drove the final nail in to anyone that had far flung dreams of catching him. Frankie wiped the 26 player field clean with a blistering round of 46 points. The last two weeks of the Summer Cup is all about Grade winners now. Well played Burgular Balter !! Unfortunately due to personal reasons , Frankie is unable to play in the Auto Club Comp that is running along side our normal Comp this week , but it does give the rest of us a crack to win a trip to Queensland..... Let's hope it's 2 Mitsi members that get the golden tickets this week !!!
Grade winners this week were Steve ' See Ya ' Belcher in A Grade on a countback over Tommy ' Tag Me in Dick Pics ' Dougan with 39 points. B Grade went to Stevie ' I've Got Nothin' ' McKenna with 41 points ,and Douggie ' Casper ' Glover continued his good run of form with 42 points... hopefully the handicapper will catch up with you eventually mate !!! Winning the ladies comp , in a countback from Penny ' Pitstop ' Pearce was Liz ' The Port Works ' de Koning on 30 points.
Plate winners this week were Ronnie ' ...and this is why I don't hang out with you blokes ' Jaekel in A Grade with 33 points. Phil ' Did I play a different course ' Edwards takes the plate in B Grade with 21 points , and Dave ' I drink alone... well, at least when it's my shout ' Clarke claims the C Grade plate with 25 points.
Team players this week were DC - 5 on the 4th, for failing to make the ladies. And Super stepped up this week , hiding under the bush on the 13th , taking not one , but two airies . Special mention to Miss Penelope for just making the ladies on the 17th... big effort that , ecspecially since that is where you tee off from !!!
Don't forget to throw your name down on the tee sheet for the Mt Compass away game if you intend on making it next Sunday, should be a good turnout for our first away game this year.
Umberellas are still on sale... great on hot days as well when you are hungover on the course ... apparently ; )
